Done Deal

Filed in National by on February 11, 2009

Per Daily kos, Reuters is reporting it looks like a deal has been reached:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Senate and House of Representatives negotiators have the votes to approve a $789 billion economic stimulus compromise, Democratic Senator Max Baucus told reporters on Wednesday.

“The votes are there for passage,” he told reporters during a lunch break. He said that the negotiators were “very close” to wrapping up and were doing some minor tinkering.

Drug addict, Rush Limbaugh, will now tell republicans to scream “Socialism!” and we’ll get to work fixing this country in spite of the anti-America crumb bumbs.

Meanwhile, Eric Cantor – the Republican’s new Rick Santorum – is focused on more important things than the economy.

Man oh man loved that commercial for AFSCME. They should run that during the superbowl with “bleeps.”

    Membership would skyrocket.

  3. Gov Patterson of New York said on air today we must not rely on one time spending or stimulus and stop our addiction to spending.

    Sounds like good policy.

    Mike,

I clicked in that link. The site must not have been updated for 8 years because it is nothing the GOP tax cut wish list that Bush pushed through.

I’m sure you are not pushing for more of that utter failure are you?

  5. X Stryker says:

The Republican motto, “If at first you don’t succeed, fail, fail again, and then lie and say you succeeded.”

You could literally replace every Republican politician with a computer programmed to say the following.

    1. “In this situation, we need tax cuts.”
    2. “The reason we failed was insufficient tax cuts.”
    3. “The reason they succeeded was because we pushed for tax cuts.”
    4. “The tax cuts are working. Give it time.”
    5. “Jesus wants us to slaughter our enemies.”

  6. anon says:

The Senate is not going to pass ANYTHING unless they attach tax cuts to it. Bush’s agenda lives on in the Senate.

    Drug addict, Rush Limbaugh

What infantile crap. Limbaugh was no ‘thrill seeker’ (such as some members of the Kennedy tribe) but a person dealing with real pain rather than a spiritual vacuum.

Those with any knowledged of the drug problem in the USA should know that the first wave of drug addiction involved Union Army veterans who were freely dosed with morphine when limbs were hacked off. It became a medical rather than a criminal problem and ended as they died off.

The next wave involved honest addiction to the opiates in patent medicines that probably were as effective as Obama’s Moon Pie in the Sky will be.

Perhaps those socialists who hide behind the euphemism of ‘progressive’ might find some examples of the success of socialism.

Yet how many of these would choose a Trabant over a Mercedes?

wow. It’s ok to get addicted to drugs they way Rush did it. Use his maids to get them, go to a dozen different doctors and lie about it….

got it, good to know Art

  9. honest addictions, man, I’ve seen it all

  10. Don’t knock the Trabant! It’s a classic.

  11. I’ll take a guy who kicked a drug habit over a drunk driver who killed his passenger and ran away (Ted Kennedy) and a racist Kluxer (Robert Byrd) any day of the week. Besides, the Dems in the Senate are led by a mobbed-up lawyer — and some day all the obama dirt will come out, if the media ever starts doing its job.

I guess Art is right, just one bullet and then it’s over pretty quickly – no real pain there.

You know you’ve taken the train to crazytown when you’re defending “honest” drug addiction. Yeah, he was real honest when he lost his hearing because of drug abuse and let it be blamed on some rare condition. I guess it’s just another case of IOKIYAR. Those people who get sent to prison for many years for possessing small amounts of marijuana or cocaine are the “dishonest” drug addicts?

  14. Mark H says:

Al was right yesterday on the radio. Eventually, we’ll be too broke to keep locking up people for drugs and we’ll just decriminalize them and tax the crap out of it. 🙂 California is about to find that our the hard way as they’re being forced to release inmates because of overcrowding.
