Day 17: Mike Castle’s Betrayal of Delaware

Today marks the seventeenth day of Mike Castle’s betrayal of Delaware. This day also comes on the heels of Congressman Mike Castle’s second vote against the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. Instead of voting with the wishes of the people of Delaware, he voted as he was told to by the Republican Party.

This act of obedience also gives us insight into the wingnuts of the Delaware blogosphere as Delaware Politics awarded Mike Castle with brass balls saying:

Brass ones, Congressman. For having the balls to do the right thing.

So get this ladies and gentlemen, the minions of the Republican Party think it takes cajones to do what you are told. That says quite a lot.

So our gift to you Congresman Mike Castle is this ball holder, since it is obvious you don’t carry them around with you often.

    They are all about obedience.

  2. They are all about common sense.

Leave out the runaway spending and you would have had his vote, leave in non stimulus spending and you don’t.

You guys refer to brass ones, Delawareans want someone with a brain also.

Delaware wants someone with a brain. Hmmm…I see Mike Protack lost quite handily in Delaware so he may be right about that. (Will I get in trouble now for not being nice and respectful?)

  4. pandora says:

Nope. Protack is fair game across the DE Blogosphere. He is the ultimate uniter.

  5. caped crusader says:

Here’s a trivia question – name one memorable accomplishment of Castle as state senator, lt. governor, governor, Congressman. And commemorative quarters don’t count.

  6. pandora says:

What really struck me about the post was how out of character it was for Delaware Politics. In the past they have avoided such antics – unlike DL which has more than its fair share!

I went over there this morning and noticed they have also changed their banner to a much lighter beat.

I’m far more proud of Mike Castle, who used to be my congressman, than I am of Arlen Specter, who is, unfortunately, still my senator.

Here is the list of projects in the Porkulus Package for Delaware; note that they are all in Wilmington. Perhaps someone can tell me why the federal government is funding, on what is supposedly an emergency basis, half a million dollars worth of sidewalk repairs in Wilmington, to (supposedly) create four jobs. Or $1,500,000 for “Traffic and Street Light Retrofits,” again in Wilmington, to (supposedly) create three jobs.

The stimuluswatch.org project right now has data ONLY from the summary of projects provided by the U.S Conference of Mayors , which means that this will only show those projects communities volunteered to submit to this organization — not every community will be represented (you can see that on the wiki page for Delaware — $52M for Wilmington is accounted for, but none of the projects Gov. Markell announced earlier are included). And it is not clear to me how this wiki will capture the state- and fed-requested projects, since they (generally) will not show up on the Conference of Mayor’s spreadsheets, either. And the fact these communities have submitted these presumably “shovel-ready” projects as their Wish List, is no guarantee they will get their funding.

I love this tracking idea, though — but, users should be very much aware that they are NOT working with the complete dataset of potential projects here.

7 Dems voted agianst the Obama bill
    3 Republicans voted for it…

doesn’ t that make the “NO” vote the more bipartisan one?
