I don’t think politicians like Mike Castle are going for believability.

Rather, Castle wants statements like the one he released yesterday to strive for plausibility. The paper will print part of it and if people say, “That sounds plausible.” – then it is a win.

  2. Unstable Isotope says:

I think politicians believe we’re gullible. After all, they lie all the time and still get elected. Why would they believe differently?

  3. Pragmatist says:

The scary part is that they believe what they are saying when they are saying it. But twenty-minutes later, not so much.

  4. Susan Regis Collins says:

The scariest part for me is when they start believing their own campaign lit………

  5. The masses are gullible.

The politically informed are maybe 5% of the electorate, and they know it.

And 1% of them may actually be most informed to know that you can’t believe a word they say.

  6. liz says:

Castle is a savvy politican. He will vote 100% against anything the democrats put up. But about 6months before the election, he will throw the moderates a bone, and then stand on that. While the uninformed remain deluged with lies, deceptions on talk radio in Delaware or the Stooge Journal…most are not looking for information that would change their mind. They are stuck on stupid.

  7. Gabriel says:

Politicians with enough money get elected no matter what they tell the voters. In this society, it’s become acceptable to lie and cheat as long as you’re successful. As Cartman said on South Park, just say “I misinterpreted the rules” and you’ll be excused.
