Here is another one for the Schedenfreud file from Boing Boing.

Short of opening a Radio Shack in an Amish town, Dubai is the world’s worst business idea, and there isn’t even any oil. Imagine proposing to build Vegas in a place where sex and drugs and rock and roll are an anathema. This is effectively the proposition that created Dubai – it was a stupid idea before the crash, and now it is dangerous.

If you found hearing about Dubai’s implosion depressing, here is 18 seconds of giggles.

    Two posts on Dubai in one day? The Dubai bubble is not one that I really understood, I guess bubbles are just inherently illogical.

    I bet you can get a great little house that sits in the middle of an artificial island that is part of a bunch of other artificial islands that look like a palm tree for a low, low price.

    I may have to look into that…

    Dubai was a place that traded oil, even though they had none. Honestly, once oil comes roaring back, and it will, they will be fine.
