How come nobody told me that goat-o-philes solid citizens over at DelawarePolitics.net put up a web petition to demand that Delaware refuse the economic recovery package money?

Oh. Because they haven’t put up a petition demanding that Delaware refuse the economic recovery package money.

Hypocrites.

    LOL. Such jokers!

  2. FSP says:

Might as well take the money since the state’s kids and grandkids are going to pay for it regardless.

If I thought that Delaware’s money would be deducted from the package and not just fail to stimulate some other state’s economy, I would petition away.

  3. jason330 says:

Where’s “Bobby” Jindal when you need him?

  4. John Feroce says:

    What a joke.

The Governor of Delaware is a Democrat, so the Jindal comment doesn’t apply.

  5. John Feroce says:

I’m getting ready to watch Top Chef, at least I get to see somebody voted off.

Unlike here where you make it through serving up the same old crap.

  6. edisonkitty says:

The kids and grandkids are going to be paying for Iraq, and the rest of the Bush mess, too. At least with the Recovery Act, we may leave behind some concrete benefits they can enjoy for the money.

  7. cassandra_m says:

    Apparently Jindal is not alone.

Unfortunately, there is a provision in the bill that will let a Legislature accept the funds, but I think that it would AOK if these states didn’t take the money. More funds for projects elsewhere, which is fine.

  8. jason330 says:

Such tough talk from Feroce. Grrr… That fact is this post cuts you to the quick after your Jindal hero worship today, you have been served again sucka!

Come back anytime you want another rhetorical ass beating.

    Cassandra,

I hope those GOP Governors get the nerve to turn the money down. More for projects in states that believe in science – and they will not be Governors for long.

Oh and one more thing, when our jellyspined DE GOP gets a load of all the wingnut ideological craziness – they might feel compelled to commit political suicide as well.

  10. The reality of taking the money this year will set up a nightmare for next year as no state economy nor the national economy will have recovered yet.

The money this year will create a false illusion of solvency which is incorrect. Governors will serve their states well to make aggressive budget moves this year.

Stabilization choices like unemployment insurance, some medicaid assistance and education help would be sound but opening up the spigots will be bad for the states.

Hey, is it going to snow today? I actually agree with Protack 🙂

  12. David says:

It is true that the stimulus money will soften the blow, but it isn’t an excuse for continued inaction. Hopefully the bill will create or save 11,000 jobs in DE as claimed.

The shame is that we could have gotten twice as many with a better approach which was rejected by the Democrats for partisan reasons.

I think you mean bipartisan reasons. A better approach would have been to ignore all of the Republican demands to increase the amount of tax cuts and reduce the spending on job creation.
