Don’t Even Think About Bailing Out These People

Filed in National by on February 22, 2009

…not only couldn’t they even begin to pay back what they owe their fellow citizens for the BushCo disaster; but are you really going to employ somebody with that kind of failure on their resume? See here:

“This is not a great time for anyone to be job hunting, including numerous former political appointees,” said Carlos M. Gutierrez, Mr. Bush’s commerce secretary. Previously chief executive of cereal maker Kellogg Co., he hopes to run a company again because “I have a lot of energy.”

Only 25% to 30% of ex-Bush officials seeking full-time jobs have succeeded, estimated Eric Vautour, a Washington recruiter at Russell Reynolds Associates Inc. That “is much, much worse” than when Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton left the White House, he said. At least half those presidents’ senior staffers landed employment within a month after the administration ended, Mr. Vautour recalled.

There is also the risk that if you employ one of these guys they will be spending half their time preparing their defense when the DOJ brings charges against them.

Although, on the plus side, they have a proven ability to worship their leader.

Amazing. People who have proven themselves incompetent can’t find jobs, despite political connections? I wonder what’s going to happen to all those graduates of Patrick Henry College now?

This strikes me as a big tidal shift. Has this ever happened before? Seems to me a job in the WH always guaranteed a nice job in the private sector, and it didn’t matter which party was in power.

  5. Unstable Isotope says:

Yes, I think so too, pandora. It’s probably the combination of an extremely unpopular president (even Gonzales is having trouble finding a job) and the poor economy. The wingnut welfare circuit is also drying up a bit because there are not as many millionaires with extra money to fund it.

  6. Truth Teller says:

Look these asshole led us into this cluster-fuck so any CEO that would hire them should be forced to resign

Why in the name of Jesse James do you suppose that is?

Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?

Apparently “incompetence” isn’t what prospective employers are looking for right now.

This is true — plus I think that wingnuts have pretty much taken on the status of invasive species, there are just too many of them to keep on the wingnut dole now.

  11. Mr. Vautour ‘estimates’ which means he does not know with any certainty much of anything.

How do you take a recruiter who does not have facts? Also, he deals with not for profit entities. How would he know what the business world is doing?

Also, it validates there are no special provisions or sweetheart deals for anyone from the Bush Administration.

You need a more credible source for a critique which would matter.
