New Poll Suggests Obama Shouldn’t Waste Time On Republican Antics
Another failed Republican strategy? Let’s face it, Republicans aren’t good at subtlety. Did they really believe the American people wouldn’t see their obstructionist tactics as, well, obstructionist tactics?
A newly released NYT/CBS Poll spells even more trouble – if that’s even possible – for the GOP.
A majority of people surveyed in both parties said Mr. Obama was striving to work in a bipartisan way, but most faulted Republicans for their response to the president, saying the party had objected to the $787 billion economicstimulus plan for political reasons. Most said Mr. Obama should pursue the priorities he campaigned on, the poll found, rather than seek middle ground with Republicans.
Ouch! How bad is it when a majority of Americans say it’s okay to marginalize the opposition party? Hope that voting in unity stunt was worth it.
Read the entire article. The blinders are off the American people. We are not expecting miracles. We accept it will take years for the economy to recover. We are not sure if it’s even going to work. But one thing stands out, and that’s the faith the country has placed in Obama. At least he’s trying to fix the problem.
And while praise for President Obama’s plans is tempered with reality, there is no praise for Republicans. None.
Yo, maybe if they rap out their opposition next time these numbers would change.

One thing I’ve been noticing recently is that certain provisions in the stimulus package are very popular and are receiving quite a bit of attention. I heard a story on NPR just this morning about the money for high speed rail and how many places want it and what they want to do with it. Republicans are left to snipe and gripe about certain provisions and fighting against extended unemployment benefits (and each other). Good luck with that one guys!
Wait, so what your saying is that the wingnuts who visit the DL aren’t a true representation of America? I’m shocked.
Yo, maybe if they rap out their opposition next time these numbers would change.
Sir Obstruct-A-Lot!
Steele’s new image will provide hours of fun!
Amazingly, I think the Republican response to this poll will be We didn’t obstruct enough. We need to obstruct more!
I am still trying to grasp what happened yesterday. Obama fielded questions from GOP Ms o C in public and in front of the press. Think about that for maybe 45 seconds. Maybe W has jaded me but I can’t recall that every happenning before. Anyone? Could you see W taking a non-scripted question from Dennis Kucinich or Russ Feingold…
Bush would have had problems with non-scripted questions from Alito.
I hadn’t considered that, DG. And, no, I don’t recall it happening before. Impressive, and just plain smart.
The more Obama goads the repubs into obstructionism, the more he helps them write their own political obituaries.
I like this:
“In the New Yorker, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel summed up the difference in what the Democrats are trying to do: “The public wants bipartisanship. We just have to try. We don’t have to succeed.”
So shocked were John McCain and Eric Cantor when Obama called on them yesterday to express their views, that they were reduced to groveling and mumbling. Their memorized scripts disappeared from their brains. It was a hilarious and unforgettable moment!
And McCain asks Obama about his helicopter. Petty and stooopid.
Yeah, it just made McCain look jealous.
Yes McSame asked about helicopter’s.
he phrased the question as your Helicopter cost more than Air Force One. instead of stating that the helicopter’s that bush order cost more than Air force One.
and although the cable news is running this foolish not one has yet to remark that it was Bush who ordered the foreign made helicopter’s
McCain: “Why does the president need safer helicopters? I crashed four planes, look at me, I’m fine!”
LOL, X!
HA! Nice…
