I have to agree with the article, I don’t think I’m a grammar snob but I do get irritated with certain types of grammatical errors. Misspelling the name of the person you’re writing about is one of those “intellectually lazy” errors that just makes the whole post suspect.
I do find it laughable that journalists tend to look down on blogs because they don’t have editors. We should ask the WaPo about the importance of editors and fact-checking for people like George Will (and his “twice checked” completely erroneous global cooling column).
