Why is it that Conservative Republicans have to tolerate Moderate Republicans, but Moderate Republicans don’t have to tolerate Conservative Republicans?

They only have to kiss up to them to win their votes.

Keep that coalition shrinking Republicans! Soon they’ll only be able to fit into a pup tent.

  2. pandora says:

When have Conservative Republicans tolerated anyone? Let’s face it, tolerance is not their strong suit. They are all about converting.

Even their litmus tests have litmus tests.

Other than Arlen Specter, Susan Collins and Olympia Snow , how many moderate Republicans are left in the US Senate?
The few moderates tolerated folks like Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott for quite awhile.

Read that very carefully and notice how he conflates “conservative” with the antithesis of “moderate”. Think of it like an SAT analogy question: hot is to cold as moderate is to ________? Apparently to JF the answer is “conservative”. I find that really quite interesting. I would have been looking for radical or perhaps extreme. This speaks volumes about the logic I think.

    DG very good point.

There was a time when there was such a thing as a liberal Republican. But they were all “disappeared” in the Great Purge of 1983.

The parties need to offer clear choices not be echos of each other.

Which is why you can’t get elected. Most people, whether you like it or not, are near the center. When two groups of extremists are the only choices, it disenfranchises the majority, which agrees with neither set of extremes.

Keep weeding out the undesirables, David. How’s that working out for you so far?

On that bolded part, is this the part of that tolerance-thing conservatives supposedly have for moderates? You know, the one where supposedly moderates are ungrateful?

Just when I thought the dance was winding down, someone went and threw in the techno-mix. Do you actually listen to your comments sometimes before submitting them?

Smitty, just vote Republican and be quiet, or David will roll up the newspaper and hit you on the nose.

I think I am supposed to put a link in here for the state elections site.
