Obama is Too Safe.

….in his NCAA tournament projections.

The POTUS NCAA bracket is here. Looks like he changed his mind a bit here and there. The President puts three #1 teams, and one #2 in the Final Four.

Here is mine (click to enlarge):

I heard Obama picked North Carolina. Isn’t one of their star players hurt?

  2. Delaware Dem says:

Yes, but Obama thought at the time he would be playing. The news that Lawson wasn’t playing did not come out until tonight.

  3. What is up with the KFC ad?

  4. Delaware Dem says:

I filled out the bracket on Yahoo.com’s Tournament challenge. I guess KFC is sponsoring it.

  5. a. price says:

is DL schilling for KFC? sellouts

  6. nemski says:

    a. price, it is what our Chinese banker overlords told us what to do.

  7. a. price says:

so much for the overwhelming support y’all get from Peta

  8. callit says:

President Obama’s bracket was too safe, but you picked two number one’s in the final? WEAK.

  9. Unstable Isotope says:

Boo hiss, he didn’t pick WKU over Illinois.

  10. Delaware Dem says:

Callit, I have Gonzaga in the F4. GONZAGA!

  11. Unstable Isotope says:

Gonzaga won’t be in the Final 4. They will be beaten by WKU.

  12. Dorian Gray says:

Obama had second thoughts about Pittsburgh… interesting… and he has a big ‘nova Duke showdown in the East as well…The zags will be beaten by UNC… why does everyone get sucked into that team?

  13. Mrs XStryker says:

GO BINGHAMTON!!! (yeah, like that will happen)

  14. RSmitty says:

you picked two number one’s in the final? WEAK.

Well, consider last year, all #1’s were the FINAL FOUR. I don’t expect that again, though, but it has happened.

On UNC, Lawson is supposedly only going to miss the first round, but it really is starting to seem there is more to this injury than their putting out. VT almost beat them and FSU did beat them. Please. UNC will not win the whole thing, they won’t even be in the final.

I can’t see your bracket due to blockage here at work, but I have my F4 going Louisville over Memphis, Ok U(OU) over Duke, and…because I rarely go for the easy picks…OU over Louisville.

I love the Big East conference in Mens BB, by far my opinion as the top conference in the nation, but one criticism of them I have had this year, is when it comes time to hold that #1 spot…they all BLOW IT. Louisville did it, UConn did it, and PITT…please, every time they just made it to #1, they immediately lost. The finals will be no different.

  15. Delaware Dem says:

    Smitty—

My Final 4 are Louisville, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Gonzaga. Louisville over Pitt in the final. In another bracket, I have Nova going to the Final 4 and the Championship game.

  16. Call It says:

UI, you are right on point! I have WKU in the elite 8. That takes true stones!!! Gonzaga sucks. Their best player is softer than a box of tissues.

My final four is Memphis, Kansas, Nova, Syracuse. Memphis over Nova.

  17. Call It says:

PS…. I have off today. I am not moving from my couch. I might even call my mom to deliver me some meatloaf. What is everyone else doing for my favorite day of the year?

  18. RSmitty says:

Man, I got serious cold feet at 12:15 and I rushed to change my bracket. I had this revelation that basically went like this:

“OU?! You stupid mother eff! Why the eff would pick the no-bench playing OU, you stupid eff?”
“Because they don’t play the bench much. They are primed to take on the worllllllld!”
“You are a stupid eff! Hurry and get them the eff out of there, you stupid eff! HURRY! LSU-Butler tips off in 5 effing minutes, you stupid eff!”

That was it. The masterful conversation in my head. I immediately went and swapped Louisville into the champ position (my second favorite all along), throwing OU down to the runner-up. Save the bracket. Phew, about four minutes to spare.

Then, I went and started making all sorts of changes, such as bringing UNC into the final four, but losing to Duke, who loses to Louisville in the finals (did not save yet)…I have FL St now beating Xavier, which I didn’t before (did not save yet)…I reviewed some other matchups I have and decided there good. OK, good. Ohhhhh crap…it’s 12:20…SAVE SAVE SAVE my bracket! OMG, you stupid eff, you didn’t save the other changes yet? You mother effing stupid eff!
Page-save error. Oh crap. Refresh refresh! The pool locked. After all that, I only was able to swap Louisville into the winners-box and make OU the runner-up.
    Stupid, stupid eff.

  19. RSmitty says:

Call it…I just don’t see Memphis winning in the F4. I think they make it there, but that’s it. I deeply believe that being in the C-USA just undrmines their ability to survive a long string of non-conf games. Plus, they’d have to eventually go up against Louisville and their defense (assuming Louisville makes the F4, which I believe they will, obviously). Louisville’s defense is outright NASTY.

FTR, I like Kansas, real good and exciting offense. Louisville’s defense, though, is stronger than that. Plus, Kansas is a young team now, so I think that defense actually shreds their offense this time. KU over the next couple of years, though, probably going to be real nasty (in a good way).

  20. Call It says:

    Smitty,

The problem with this year is that any seed 5 or higher can beat one another on any given night. The Big East is the best conference by far and Louisville is the best team in the country. They can score in streaks, but that all depends on their defense, which is second to none. However, I just feel that Wake is fast enough to beat their trapping and press.

I understand the C-USA argument, but don’t agree with it (Although as we speak they are actually in a close game with Northridge. Northridge?) Memphis is super athletic, super fast, and they can score in bunches. Tyreke Evans is a matchup nightmare….I wish he chose Nova instead of Memphis last year!

Anywhoozle, I am in love with Kansas, but you’re right – too young. Duke sucks. They are frauds. Ty Lawson is gonna be UNCs achilles heel. FSU is DEF beating Xavier.

Here’s to Cleveland St. running the table!

  21. RSmitty says:

Nah…VCU in yet another CAA bracket destroyer run!!!! Yeah, right.

Boy oh boy, do I long for those cupcake days of America East (save Drexel and Hofstra) for UD.

On Lawson, yes, I totally expect him to be a drag-down factor for them once they hit a matchup close to their level. It’s exactly why they struggled against VT and then why Hansbrough (sp???) looked absolutely stupid against FSU. UNC likely makes the F4, but then that’s it. *poof*

The only reason I mentioned Duke above, is I fully expect Pitt to do that top-of-the-heap flop they have done this year. They are going to smell the prize, see the prize, but forget they are playing Duke at that moment and… FLOP.
