Happy Passover

Filed in National by on April 8, 2009

To all our Jewish friends here at Delaware Liberal and elsewhere, we want to wish them all a Happy Passover.

This year’s Passover is rather historic. In Delaware, the first Passover Seder will be celebrated at Woodburn by Governor Markell, Delaware’s first Jewish Governor. And President Obama is set to become the first President to hold a Passover seder in the White House.

Oddly enough, I didn’t even realize Markell was Jewish until well after he was elected – I’m sure many in Delaware still have no clue. I think that’s a good thing – that we’ve moved beyond, at least here, Jewish faith being a political issue. Now the big question; will we ever have a Hindu, Muslim, atheist, or Wiccan governor?

    Let’s start small, shall we?

… county council member (bonus points if Sussex gets the first)?

    … member of the legislature?

    … statewide elected official?

  8. M. McKain says:

Haha, Sussex…..do you mean the beach area or “real” Sussex – as in the northern-most county in Alabama?

  9. Mrs XStryker says:

Thanks for the wishes from both X and myself. 🙂

Obama’s having a Seder at the White House?! That’s huge. Way better than the “oh you people have a holiday too?” parties W’s been throwing.
