Despite all the talk about an imminent “gun ban” on the part of the insane cabal that leads the Republican Party, for all the false outrage, for all the inane comments here by gun nuts about their precious right to own a gun, and… despite eight rampages that have claimed 57 lives since March 10, “it hasn’t sparked any national goal to deal with this epidemic. In fact, it’s going the other way,” said Scott Vogel of the Freedom States Alliance, a gun control activist group.
Indeed, no ban of any kind is immiment. 65 House Democrats said they would block any attempt to resurrect an expired federal ban against assault weapons. So when a gun nut, or a Republican, professes their outrage about tightening gun restrictions and the immiment gun ban, know this:

The administration has “announced” a great many things more clearly than any attempt at an assault weapons ban, only to back away now that it’s in office.

All you got is a comment by Holder about a ban on sale of assault weapons. In that case he wants you to KEEP your assault weapon, not confiscate it.
You have no basis for claiming anybody wants to confiscate weapons.
Actually, the gun nuts are pushing video of cops confiscating weapons during the Katrina evacuation. One video showed the cops trying to evacuate an old lady, then they jumped her and took her gun when the cops noticed she had the gun in her hand. That was Bush and Gonzo.
What’s “proof”? The guy in Pittsburgh pretty much said exactly that.

I’m strongly anti-gun. I’m afraid the winds in America concerning guns are blowing the wrong way. Hopefully these recent incidents will change that, but I’m not convinced they will. One reason is the gun enthusiasts are very vocal with a high percentage of their number in the passionate category. The anti-gun folks, on the other hand, are largely apathetic. I’m striving to change that on my blog and in my immediate world.

Did he? From what I’ve read the media has been quoting friends of his saying he generally disliked the president and feared for his rights. I have yet to see a statement from him to the effect of “this is why I killed 3 men”. Let me know if something surfaces.

Lets be realistic, it has nothing to do with our passion and everything to do with the fact that we have huge numbers of registered voters in swing congressional districts.

To the best of my limited knowledge, the administration has not announced a plan of confiscation by name.
Laws in California and New Jersey amount to de facto confiscation and bills introduced to Congress amount to the same. Powerful forces in the left, though not the administration itself, have confessed that their ultimate goal is confiscation. I have little reason to be assured that my right to own many classes of firearms and ammunition under the Obama administration is secure.
