Paul Krugman writes:

First, there’s no longer any reason to believe that the wizards of Wall Street actually contribute anything positive to society, let alone enough to justify those humongous paychecks.

Man oh Man Hube is stupid. Check it out:

There are many people out there who are arguing that rough treatment — OK, “torture” — against anyone under any circumstances is immoral (and illegal). Again, I wonder how these folks could live with themselves knowing that this position led to the deaths of thousands of Americans.

Okay. So 9-11 happened because we didn’t torture enough. Got it! (I see the men in the white coats slowly approaching Hube from behind.)

In fact, as we all know, 9-11 happened because Bush ignored the April PDB and other intelligence.

  2. nemski says:

This whole Radical Right torture argument is teh stoopid.

  3. anon says:

Even accepting Hube’s asinine premise, there are many principles of liberty that are worth dying for. “Not Torturing” is one of them.

  4. nemski says:

Maybe we could raise some money by waterboarding Hube.

  5. cassandra_m says:

It is really easy to avoid talking about morality, principle or policy when the only thing you’ve got is a bunch of made up facts designed to pull on the guilt strings.

I still haven’t seen one of them answer my question as to whether they’d be so sanguine if they heard that a captured US soldier was being captured as we speak. And you can’t use the unlawful combatants excuse. Because whoever does the capturing and torturing of our guy will reclassify our guy to justify their actions. Just the way we did.

  6. Von Cracker says:

Nem, I wouldn’t even try to simulate death by drowning on anyone, even on that tool!

  7. nemski says:

Oh, I couldn’t do it. But I know a guy who knows a guy.

  8. jason330 says:

I love the begrudging acceptance of the fact that we are talking about “….OK, torture” not “rough treatment.”

    What a maroon.

  9. jason330 says:

    Von Cracker ,

What if Hube knew the codes to disable an atomic bomb that was going to wipe out an entire CITY!!! And by waterboarding Hube you could save the city and make it home in time to see American Idol?

    What about then?

  10. pandora says:

The moral gymnastics necessary to arrive at this conclusion are astounding.

  11. Von Cracker says:

I’d assume that Hube would say anything I’d want to hear….

With that extracted info, I’d try to disable the bomb with the code he gave me. Subsequently, the code Hubert supplied is incorrect, and by the time I get back to him, I’ve missed American Idol and the bomb goes off!!!

All the while Pubert is laughing uncontrollably, thinking at worst that I would kill him…probably not since “disposing” of a suspected terrorist without anyone knowing is still a hard thing to do…. But even if I did, he’s go out believing that he served his master and will receive eternal pussy in the afterlife.

  12. Mark H says:

“And by waterboarding Hube you could save the city and make it home in time to see American Idol? ”

Change American Idol to 24, House or the New Star Trek movie and I’ll go ahead and OK the waterboarding 🙂

In the meantime — Ambassador Joseph Wilson wants to raise the stakes in Dick Cheney’s call for documents:
Among other documents Cheney should release is his testimony to Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald about the role he played in the treasonous leak of the identity of a covert CIA officer.

    The whole thing is choice.

Good old GOP and Senator Susan Collins I hope they all get the Flu after this.

  15. Unstable Isotope says:

The tortured logic of the right is that if you don’t torture people, that means innocent Americans will die. That’s the premise they want you to accept. I really think the premise that they want you to accept is the George W. Bush is some kind of superhuman who can read people’s souls just by looking at them. He can then tell who needs to be tortured, and we need to skip all the laws and stuff since that just slows things down.

  16. cassandra_m says:

TT will love this one, I think:

A Chicago alderman is really, really mad that a crime-themed hot dog stand is in his district.

  17. Unstable Isotope says:

Another rightwinger shoots law enforcement authorities. This one was a vet with a history of violence and didn’t like Obama.

  18. anon says:

I just read the story about the FL shooter. Plenty of crazy to go around.

First of all, they tried to arrest him at a SHOOTING RANGE? How dumb was that.

The, , he didn’t shoot until they TASERED him. That has got to scramble your brains, cause intense pain, and take away whatever little restraint or judgment you may have had.

If somebody tasers me and I can move my hand, I am going to pick up whatever weapon I can reach to make it stop, and prevent it from happening again.

Tasering is attempted murder. I think if I were to taser a cop and he shot me, he would walk free, probably not even be charged.

  19. dorian gray says:

    2 choices only :
    Liberty or death.
Plus AQ came to Iraq to kill Americans b/c of torture. So it’s the other way round.

  20. nemski says:

anon #18 that is some tortured logic you have going on there.

Tasering is attempted murder. I think if I were to taser a cop and he shot me, he would walk free, probably not even be charged.

Yes, of course, he’s a cop.

  21. anon says:

Yes, of course, he’s a cop.

We’ve heard that before. That is the “If the President does it it’s not illegal” logic.

Go borrow some of Hube’s pro-torture arguments; maybe they’ll work for you here.

  22. nemski says:

    Right anon, you’re an idiot.

Next up, watch Hube slip into never-never land complete with misspellings. 🙂

Thanks to the current adminstration and its enablers, desiring tougher enforcement on immigration, believing in an individual’s right to own a gun, and loathing the policies of the current presidential adminstration aren’t just plain ‘ol policy disagreements. They’re attributes of a rightist extremist, and as such must be monitored by the government!

  23. anon says:

Nemski is still sensitive about the time he pegged the meter on the Milgram experiment.

  24. cassandra_m says:

They didn’t Taser the guy until he wouldn’t cooperate with them. What police force do you think is just going to walk away from a suspect — one already with a violent complaint — and ask the guy to call the cops when he calms down?

    Please.

  25. Truth Teller says:

    Cassandra!!!

Very amusing post about the Hot Dogs.

However I am happy now that Deer Head Hot Dogs has finally come to Dewey Beach.

You know the ones you have for lunch and then again at 9:00 pm.
