Updated: Bankers Win/Americans Lose

Once again, Tom Carper proves that he is no moderate when it comes to sticking it the middle class, and carrying water for his financial backers. He is a fucking zealot.

I wonder what Don Carper thinks about the Durbin amendment to the banking bill which would provide some opportunity for bankruptcy judges to modify existing loan terms?

I don’t care what John Manifold says.  Carper voted for the banks making him a fucking fraud.

WASHINGTON — A measure to allow bankruptcy judges to rework the mortgages of strapped homeowners failed in the Senate on Thursday, clouding its chances of becoming law.

The defeat is a setback for the administration of President Barack Obama, which had championed the measure as a central plank of its plan to repair the housing market.

The measure, which was offered as an amendment to broader banking legislation, sank on a 51-to-45 vote due to opposition from Republicans and moderate Democrats.

So called moderates:

Just watched it again and might throw up.

This vote was about Tom Carper standing shoulder to shoulder with the bankers who wrecked the economy.

That could not be any more clear.

I didn’t watch it all the through and I’m already more pissed off than Jason!!!

So what excuse is Carper going to use for not voting for this ?

  6. John Manifold says:

Jason proven right on this issue.

  7. Ryan Grim has the story at HuffPo this morning.

He quotes both of our Senators. And he says Carper pulled in 1.5 million out of the bank lobby. “Carper, however, the no vote from Delaware, said the issue was finished in the Senate. “My guess is we’re not going to see it again,” he said.”

” Sen. Ted Kaufman, a Democrat from Delaware, a state nearly wholly-owned by the financial industry, voted his conscience, opposing the banks. He is not running for reelection. “I’m liberated from fundraising,” said Kaufman afterwords.
His Delaware colleague, Democrat Tom Carper, voted with the banks.
The Chamber of Commerce has deemed the vote a crucial one that will be heavily counted in its annual scorecard, and those who voted yes will pay a financial price from the Chamber and the banking industry.”
