At least it wasn’t a little boy…

The best part is when they bring in the Loud Mouth aka Bill Donohue of the Catholic League. Read up on this guy, he’s a peach.
Donohue was surprisingly sane this time.
Father Cutie?
Was his liason with Miss California?
Quote of the clip: “They’re sending him away to reflect and pray.”
Ok. I get it. A priest who molests a child is re-assigned to a new parish where there are new children and a priest who is caught showing affection to a consenting adult woman is removed from his post. Period. Hmmm, curious, very curious.
good point PI
Completely agreed, PI. And that’s why I think The Church ought to change their stance on Priests getting married.
It’s my understanding that the ‘not marrying’ rule came about out of the fears of the church that divorces would take money from the church. Am I to understand from this that it costs the church less to pay off a victim of a predatory priest than a disgruntled ex-wife?
The weekely Dialogue just arrived today. The financial statements for this year and last year are printed along with a letter from the Bishop. According to the letter from the Bishop, he anticipates an additional 1.5 million in costs to the church for sex abuse cases by the end of the fiscal year and there are 44 cases pending. That’s less than $35,000 per victim. The look back on abuse cases coincides with the fiscal year.
Umm PI–divorces would never be paid off, because they aren’t church granted. It was the cost of keeping a wife and family BESIDES, the priest that pinches. I hear Notre Dame full freight is expensive.
I heard a story on the radio recently that the priests can’t marry rule came about in the 11th century and the reason was that the church didn’t want to have to support survivors.
Does anyone have a problem with the tabloid? He would be welcomed in my church.
I think the Catholic Church has the right to set any standard that they want. It is there judgment solely.
