Shots Fired at Holocaust Museum

Filed in National by on June 10, 2009

There has been a shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.  Early reports suggets that the shooter is a white supremacist and anti-tax activist.  Four people were injured, including the shooter.

From the shooters bio:

In 1981 Von Brunn attempted to place the treasonous Federal Reserve Board of Governors under legal, non-violent, citizens arrest. He was tried in a Washington, D.C. Superior Court; convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison for eleven years by a Jew judge. A Jew/Negro/White Court of Appeals denied his appeal. He served 6.5 years in federal prison. (Read about von Brunn’s “Federal Reserve Caper” HERE.) He is now an artist and author and lives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Update 4:21 PM

It’s now being reported that the security guard shot by Van Brunn has died. Condolences to his family.

I will update with link when it’s available. – UI

Update 4:26 PM

The security guard, Officer Stephen Johns, has died. The shooter is in critical condition.

Apparently thousands of people were in the museum when the shooting occurred. Thanks to the bravery of the security guards, many people’s lives were saved.

Holy crap, the guy is 89 years old. He is old enough to be an actual Nazi.

  2. I’m glad nobody was killed. I wonder what makes an 89-year-old guy snap like that? That’s pretty unusual isn’t it?

  3. pandora says:

Oops! I just pulled my post on this. Great minds…

Can we discuss the DHS report again??? I fear this won’t be the last incident like this. And, Geez, how did this guy get a gun into the museum?

Also, so help me, if this is another case of law enforcement dropping the ball…

  4. nemski says:

UI, I think he snapped along time ago.

Agreed, Pandora, maybe that DHS report wasnt’ too far off.

  5. MJ says:

Another anti-government wingnut with a gun. Wow, let’s protect those 2nd Amendment rights!

  6. nemski says:

Well, you know MJ, if everyone was packing . . .

  7. Here is Mr. Von Brunn exercising his right of free speech:

  8. nemski says:

Oh, I can’t wait for a picture of him at a Maryland tea party.

  9. Dorian Gray says:

Anti-tax as well, huh? The correlation between pro-gun, anti-tax, and conspiracy theory paranoia always intrigued me. After 89 years you’d think this guy would have learnt something.

BTW, P, he shot a security guard and another guard shot him… apparently…

  10. nemski says:

I wonder if they rushed him in a socialist ambulance to a Soviet hospital.

  11. MJ says:

El Som’s link is blocked by my agency as “racism and hate.”

Nemski – I think I just threw up thinking of an 89 year old getting teabagged.

  12. jason330 says:

Don’t judge the whole Republican party by this guy’s actions.

  13. nemski says:

    Here’s this man’s dribble, MJ:

Remember, the Federal Reserve Act (1913) gave JEWS control of America’s MONEY. Followed by control of America’s main sources of information .

Early on, during the war-torn 20th Century, the only broadcast networks : ABC, CBS, and NBC — were JEW owned. Today, JEWS control ALL important sources of information (The major networks, Newspapers, Magazines, Book-publishing, Tin-Pan Alley, Music & Recording Industry, Hollywood, Encyclopedia Britannica, Public schools and Universities, the Catholic Church, etc.).

Bit by bit Liberalism ascended. Bit by bit the Constitution was re-interpreted. Bit by bit government institutions and Congressmen fell into JEW hands — then U.S. diplomacy, businesses, resources and manpower came under JEW control.

Whitemen sat on their collective asses and did NOTHING – NOTHING BUT TALK. Never before in World history has a Nation so completely been conquered with absolutely NO physical resistance.

    Whites LOVE their Enemies.

Today, on the World stage, Whitemen are LAUGHED AT, their women bred by stronger men.

    And America ?

    America is a Third-World racial garbage-dump — stupid, ignorant, dead-broke, and terminal.

  14. nemski says:

Jason330, or the guy last week.

  15. Dorian Gray says:

Good one Nemski… where some Jewish doctor will probably save his life…

  16. FSP says:

“Don’t judge the whole Republican party by this guy’s actions.”

I would have bet my house that Rush330 would have been the first to use the word “Republican” here.

  17. pandora says:

DG, I was referring to this guy being on another watch list – you know, like the guy who shot the military recruiters and Roeder, who killed Dr. Tiller.

BTW, security guards should get a raise!

  18. MJ says:

Yeah, my people are all rich and we own everything. I must be from the other Jewish race – the one that had to go to college on loans and watched both of his parents work to provde for the family.

  19. nemski says:

    FSP, I love it — Rush330.

  20. MJ says:

BTW – rush hour is going to be a real bitch in DC tonight – the main access to Virginia (access to the 14th Street Bridge) is closed. And people are complaining that they’re going to be late getting home from work. Priorities.

  21. David says:

This guy is evil, but thankfully this happened where there are armed security guards. If this happen somewhere like a school or U of D. The man could have gone through at will actually killing people. Guns save lives.

Comment 17, they are under valued.

  22. You’re right nemski, that he snapped long ago. What made him decide to act out today?

  23. nemski says:

Guns save lives. Your logic is childish.

  24. pandora says:

Guns save lives? So do abortions, David, but I don’t see you acknowledging those shades of gray.

Good luck with the commute, MJ!

  25. MJ says:

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. (snark)

  26. Phil says:

    DHS? Department of Homeland Stupidity?

I’ll bet this guy didn’t snap, but realized that he is so old now that he doesn’t care. What, are they gonna sentance him to life?

Well, I wonder when they are gonna have the headline: Man who saved children from burning building also anti-tax supporter. I like it when things like pro-gun, or anti-tax means you must be some kind of rascist nutjob. What about the upstanding psycho from craigslist. I think we should ban the internet….

  27. MJ says:

Yeah, I’m in my office in DC today, but I’m on my racing bike and heading the other direction.

  28. Dorian Gray says:

Hey Dave, nice logic. If the “anti tax” fuck bag didn’t have one I guess the question of whether the security guards needed their’s is kind of moot.

So basically you need guns to protect yourself from guns? You like fucking Aristotle dude, really.

  29. pandora says:

UI, the far right has been stirring this group up for months. It’s now their quest, their responsibility, and their duty.

  30. Delaware Dem says:

Steve Newton, I am so relieved you that you and other right wingers saved us from the hellfire known as the DHS Report.

Yeah, right wing extremists are not violent at all.

  31. nemski says:

Hey, Philbert thanks for playing. Why don’t you go back and continue to complain about Obama’s birth certificate.

  32. Phil says:

I got an idea, how about they just enforce the laws that are already on the books. This guy was sent to a federal prison. He shouldn’t of had a gun in the first place. If you ban, and take away all the guns, who do you think is gonna still have them? The criminals! Drugs are illegal, and lots of people still have them.

Screw it! Have all law abiding citizens give up their firearms! Comrade Obama and his trained civilian defense force will protect us! YES WE CAN!

  33. delacrat says:

    But is it terrorism ?

  34. pandora says:

Is it terrorism? Well… what would we be calling it if the shootings were done by a Muslim citing Allah? Now see, wasn’t that easy?

  35. delacrat says:

If you outlaw bank robbery, only outlaws will rob banks.

  36. Dorian Gray says:

“Comrade Obama” – I love that one.

The problem with your argument, Phil, is one of reality. Arm yourself all you want against the tyranical socialist gov’t or whatever. If they ever do roll M1A1 Abrahams tanks and Bradleys down you driveway you’re fucked anyway dude.

Just settle down with the Fox News and the Mark Levin and the bullshit and try thinking things out for yourself.

  37. nemski says:

Um, philbert, It’s President Obama or Mr. President. We only use Comrade in our private socialist meetings.

  38. Dorian Gray says:

And the illicit drug analogy is faulty. My personal cocaine use, for example, can’t do direct harm to you. (That was hypothetical so far as you know.)

  39. anonone says:

#34 – Great, pandora – that WAS easy!

  40. cassandra_m says:

@30 — you are not to notice the violence of the extremists, or even that they are extremists, DD. This is apparently another form of political expression or some such.

  41. pandora says:

    Thanks, A1!

    Here’s John Cole’s take:

“How many acts of right-wing terrorism have to occur before DHS is allowed to start keeping track of it?

I really don’t get the conservative reaction to the original DHS pronouncement. No one is trying to lump angry Red State commenters in with honest-to-God terrorists…except, weirdly enough, the Red State commenters themselves.

There are crazy people out there shooting up abortion clinics and Holocaust museums. These people identify with causes normally described as right-wing. Deal with it. Tea bag away to your heart’s content. It’s not til you start plotting to kill people that DHS should take an interest. If anyone starts spying on you prior to that, then I, the ACLU, and dirty hippies everywhere will support your grievances.”

  42. Phil says:

Just like all the tanks, helicopters, bombers, and troops have worked stabilizing Iraq and Afghanistan?

Dorian Gray = exactly what is wrong with america today.

The ‘I can’t do anything anyway’ attitude.

It doesn’t take much research to see how our economic and foreign policy has slowly been making this country worse.

I think maybe you should take your own advice.

  43. Von Cracker says:

Phil has no fucking clue what he’s talking about when it comes to what’s wrong with this country….

  44. anonone says:

Interesting with what is going on with Sean Hannity’s buddy, Hal Turner. He is constantly skirting the edges of the First Amendment with statements like:

“If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they’re going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too.”

After being released from jail today for these types of threats, he claims that he has an intimidating police presence outside his home.

You can see his website at halturnershowDOTcom (I am not going to publish a link).

  45. Phil says:

Your drug use doesn’t harm anyone? Nice.

Ok, assuming that you don’t either overdose, or have some drug addled mishap hurting someone, you are harming lots of people.

Immeadiate family can be destressed that you are on drugs. (not so big a deal i guess)

Now the drugs come from somewhere. Some cartel, lets just say in mexico. (I’m gonna just skip all the gang and drug fueled violence over territory greed, and drugs themselves. As well as the problems from neglected, or abused children. Or any of the other social ills that are attributed to drugs….) There you have massive drug wars that are causing lots of kidnappings and murders. Not to mention the corruption in their government at all levels.

good thing you didn’t say heroin or meth! Cause we all know where most of the worlds heroin comes from, and who it supports…right? Or the right-wing extremists that make meth to fund their organizations.

Its a good thing that the comparing of guns to drugs for illegal purposes was faulty.

  46. nemski says:

    VC translation please.

  47. Phil says:

Unfortunately I do know what is wrong with this country. The problem is, there isn’t really a way to fix it. Too many people want a handout or everything for free. no one is accountable…..

  48. Dorian Gray says:

Phil, what are you some kind of guerilla warrior? Look man, it isn’t that bad. If you think you need to defend youself against the socialist hordes you are just delusional. Bottom line.

Case in point, I wasn’t a friend to the Bush administration right. Illegal wiretapping, torture, no WMDs, etc. but the fucking nation didn’t collapse, dude.

The problem with the country is everything is turned into some existential threat. This happens left and right, to be sure. Though the hippies generally don’t shoot up museums, abortion clinics, Oklahoma federal buildings, etc.

As far as taking my own advice, believe me I’m cool in the intelligence department. As far as being what’s wrong with America. I take that as the highest compliment coming from a fucking douche bag like you.

  49. pandora says:

Geez, Phil, let’s take your comment and substitute the word oil for drugs. Guess, you’ll be biking it from now on!

  50. Dorian Gray says:

Casual drug use by adults doesn’t hurt anyone. You convulated horseshit propaganda in nonsense.

  51. Von Cracker says:

    Don’t Shoot, Nem.

  52. Phil says:

Awesome, because someone feels that rights in the constitution shouldn’t be denied, i’m a guerilla warrior. I don’t even have a gun in my home, I just know when something is wrong. I also love it when someone of diversity and tolerance insults me. Makes my day.

  53. Von Cracker says:

    Phil projects.

He thinks he’s better than most.

Especially since he equates someone with tolerance as a door mat.

  54. Dorian Gray says:

So I took or want a handout and am unaccoutable? I equal whats wrong right? This is like Dave logic, Phil. Are you Plato or Socrates? Dude, that’s the same tired right wing horseshit from the Reagan playbook. Get with the program.

  55. Geezer says:

“Unfortunately I do know what is wrong with this country. … Too many people want a handout or everything for free. no one is accountable…..”

We wouldn’t want to give any clues to what type of people we’re talking about here, would we? Are we talking racism, or class warfare?

  56. Dorian Gray says:

Oh Nemski – My German ain’t the best but I believe “Nicht Schießen” is German for “Don’t Shoot”.

  57. h. says:

Damn, it only took 56 comments for the race card to come out.

  58. Phil says:

I would say class warfare. Doesn’t matter what race you are if you feel entitled to something. Its ok though, I’m sure more money is just going to be printed anyway. Free dollars for all!

  59. rhubard says:

Thanks Nemski. That’s some classic loon-job prose. The best part:

“Today, JEWS control ALL important sources of information” … then look at the list. Tin-Pan Alley? There’s a sign that this screed dates back to at least the 1950s, when Tin Pan Alley died. And the Catholic Church? Controlled by Jews? Yeah, I guess it’s so anti-Semitic to throw everyone off the scent, huh?

  60. Dorian Gray says:

Phil, speaking of Constitutional rights, what was your position on the FISA contraversy during the last administration? You know pressuring the phone companies, warrantless taps on US citizens and all that… we have an amendment in the Bill of Rights regarding that one, correct? Did you take a position in the discussion?

How about due process at Gitmo… or for Padilla (US citizen).

I’ll gladly take your point on the 2nd amendment if you take my point on the rest on the document…

  61. rhubard says:

“Doesn’t matter what race you are if you feel entitled to something. ”

    Please define “entitled.”

  62. Dorian Gray says:

“entitled to something”… actually we are… life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness… many entitlement programs go right to that… Come on man. Are you entitled to police protection, for example. How about safe drinking water in your home? Don’t make blanket statements like that… it makes you look like a radical, silly person.

  63. I don’t Phil he cares whether he sounds silly or not.

  64. Phil says:

Wiretapping should not be warrantless inside of the US. The entire Patriot Act is a bunch of garbage. DHS is a joke, streamline communications by creating a giant new bureaucracy. Padilla is a US Citizen, and was caught and arrested in the US. He should go through the normal process. At gitmo (and assuming they were captured during hostilities outside the US) they should undergo war tribunals. If not, sent back to their country of origin.

I’m not a card carrying republican if that is what you are thinking. There are major problems with both the democratic and republican parties.

  65. Geezer says:

    h. — It was a question, not an accusation. It could have been taken wrong, so I asked. Quit being a jerk.

  66. nemski says:

    h. the alleged shooter is a racist

  67. Dorian Gray says:

Re: #65 Phil – Fair enough. And I’m not a Democrat either, by the way. But I think, as I said in #49, the ends of the right left spectrum get caught up trying to describe everything as an existential threat to the country… and it isn’t. Al Qaeda isn’t, Bush wasn’t, and Obama isn’t either.

There are plenty of Dems on the site guilty of the same.

  68. nemski says:

    Guilty of what DG?

  69. Phil says:

The problem with these programs are not their intention, but how they are created. The problem is that you are not entitled to money. All of these social projects mean taking from someone and giving to another. If I were to do that, it would be theft. Government programs are a blanket over the entire country whether or not it is needed.

Also, you aren’t entitled to safe drinking water, that is a service usually provided by a private company. Of course there are laws stating safe water, but there are lots of laws.

  70. nemski says:

Phil, there’s a site for you called Delaware Libertarian.

  71. Dorian Gray says:

Guilty of making certain issues into direct threats to the existence of the union. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m reading DE Lib or watching Keith Obermann.

Just because something may threaten our ideals (like torture) doesn’t mean the US will dissolve. Shit, I myself am probably guilty of this.

Sometimes it sounds as if the existence of the US is at stake, it isn’t. The Obermanns and Becks and Hannitys whip up this fervor and the next thing you know 100 douche bags are throwing tea bags in the river… or MoveOn.org is taking out full page ads in the NYT. The latter is just as much fear mongering as the former.

  72. Phil says:

Libertarians can also be kinda hypocritical. The believe in the first amendment, except for certain situations. Besides, If i was to go to a site with closer views, how would there be a debate?

What good is talking to people saying,”you’re right! No, you’re right!”

    boring…

  73. anonone says:

Phil, there’s a country for you called Somalia.

  74. nemski says:

    LOL anonone.

  75. anon says:

Why is it that after each of these shootings right-wing websites feel compelled to scrub the shooter’s postings from their site?

  76. anon says:

… but before the shooting their violent hateful posts were just fine.

  77. Dorian Gray says:

Phil – I think you should have quit while you were ahead. Maybe not ahead, call it even. The drinking water thing… damn man… The fact that the service is provided privately (sometimes) is immaterial. The government standards protect the product delivered.

  78. jason330 says:

Seriously, don’t judge all Republicans based on the actions of this nut.

  79. Phil says:

I’m not saying the existance of the US is at stake, just how we envision it. How we view our country and how it is are two seperate things. There are certain problems, especially when it comes to economy and the money supply that we were warned about in the past. We are making the same mistakes, and it doesn’t need to be this way.

  80. anonone says:

I agree, Jason330. Judge them on the actions and statements of:

    Rush Limbaugh
    Sean Hannity
    Newt Gingrich
    George Bush
    Dick Cheney
    Sarah Palin
    David Anderson
    Mike Protak
    …and on and on…

  81. Phil says:

    Sweet, maybe I can become a pirate….

  82. jason330 says:

How we view our country and how it is are two seperate things

Where were you when Bush was taking a crap in the Constitution?

BOOH YAH! In your face retard!

  83. Phil says:

hey jason, we’ve been through this. comment # 65

  84. anonone says:

    Answer to anon #77:

Because afterward it has become “mission accomplished.”

  85. jason330 says:

Give it up man – you just had your ass handed to you.

Booh Yah! In your face freakshow!

  86. jason330 says:

    Speechless?

That’s what I call a total wingnut smackdown!!

  87. Phil says:

jason actually made me laugh. I love it when people don’t read the other posts, and just make statements. I didn’t vote for Bush BTW. so….Booh Yah?!

  88. jason330 says:

I made you cry. Admit it.

  89. cassandra_m says:

TPM reporting that this extremist is apparently something of an honored elder over at Stormfront.

  90. a. price says:

this was yet another Right Wing Terrorist attack, the fuck-hole who assassinated Dr Tiller in a house of G-D said there would be more. The sickest part of all is that the Right Wing Terrorist sympathizers (Rush, Sean, Malkin , RWR, et all) are going to use the free speech defense while they subtly condone and praise the acts of these monsters. They will say it is not representative of the party, but the terrorists are killing for the same things they are arguing for, and they aren’t human enough to try and distance themselves from it.
I was at the Museum last week, I found the name an location of where the village my family is from used to be. I also found a whole string of my family that was exterminated. Than along comes this right wing white supremacist. Someone who loves the inaccurate and retarded “Obama is a socialist” battle cry. His level of hatred for what America is finally becoming, a nation where all are equal, that he decided ot become a terrorist. I foresee more of this friends, not less. As the unelected leaders of the Republican party continue to deny any kind of responsibility for the logical ends of their hate speech and fear mongering, more “patriotic” people “protecting america” will continue to practice terrorism.

  91. cassandra_m says:

Excellent, a.price. And I still think that you are quite right that there will definitely be alot more of this stuff.

  92. Progressive Mom says:

    Going back to #15….

Just for right-wing consistency, let’s have all the Jewish, Catholic, gay, Latin, Black and Polish doctors and nurses at GW Hospital refuse to take care of the shooter because it is offensive to their heritage and religions. And, because the shooter will not condemn the taking of Jewish lives in the Holocaust, the Jewish staff can put another few bullets in him…

…hey, I’m just saying, if he was a woman seeking an abortion, the right wing would think all the above actions would be appropriate, defensible and righteous…..

  93. pandora says:

    Exactly, Progressive Mom!

  94. Geezer says:

“There are certain problems, especially when it comes to economy and the money supply that we were warned about in the past. We are making the same mistakes, and it doesn’t need to be this way.”

I love it when right-wingers start to wax on economic theory. Pretty soon we’ll be on to the Ron Paul-Fed Theft-Gold Standard crazy trail.

Give it up, Phil. The nation’s financial underpinnings are not going to change in your favor or at your whim. If you want to best ride out the coming inevitable inflation, I’d suggest real estate.

  95. I feel bad for the gun that was used as an object that kills. The poor thing wasn’t used right…

  96. MJ says:

Rhubard @60 – you mean you never noticed the nice, white yarmulke the Pope wears or the red yarmulkes the cardinals wear? Looks pretty Jewish to me. After all, they do have the treasures from the Second Temple buried under the Vatican.

  97. MJ says:

A.Price – I also found family names when I was there (family I didn’t know that remained in Europe after the others came to the States). To me, this asshole defiled the museum, just as Dr. Tiller’s murderer defiled his church. And I’m getting tired of all this “protected speech” argument from the right – they have ratcheted up the hate and the noise and they have the blood of Dr. Tiller and Officer Jones on their heads.

I think you can trace the start of all of this back to the assassination of Alan Berg back in 1984 by white supremacists he challenged. It’s been non-stop ever since.

Maybe Chris Rock had it right when he said we shouldn’t ban gun ownership, we should ban bullets.

  98. callerRick says:

“If they ever do roll M1A1 Abrahams tanks and Bradleys down you driveway you’re fucked anyway dude.

It depends on who’s commanding….remember, Lincoln thought that R.E. Lee would be leading union troops; we all know how that turned out.
