Proof That Money Does Not Equal Class

Take a look at this house and tell me your first thought isn’t Real Housewives of New Jersey. Yes, yes, I know the house in question is tied to the Ensign scandal – I don’t care.  Frankly, the real scandal is how tacky this super-sized McMansion is.  Truly a crime against architecture.

A reader at TPM sums it up perfectly:

What always strikes me about these mega mcmansions is, well, the incredibly bad taste: rooms too large, ridiculous over the top “faux” European furnishings. Is this considered “great living”? Great design?

Most of America’s top architects would blanche at these so called “posh” surroundings. It strikes me that these lavish, badly designed, ugly places often fit the people who chose to live in them.

What is it with our penchant for “grand” foyers, useless (and unused) living rooms and over-sized kitchens and family rooms.  By my calculations you could cut off the front of the house… and not even notice.

Yeah, I know, to each his own, but… Come on!
