Democratic Branding

Filed in National by on July 1, 2009

As a veteran of the post Dean campaign soul searching period of our great Democratic Party’s history, I recall a great deal of handwringing over the Democratic “message” and getting to the right “framing.”

Al Franken seems to have it down pretty good.

What a day! I just wanted to take a moment amidst all this to say thank you to the MoveOn members in Minnesota and across the country.

Paul Wellstone understood that real change comes from the ground up. And there’s really no better example of that than MoveOn.org.

You’ve been there for me since the beginning. And I look forward to working with you as a U.S. senator to make the progressive vision we all share into a reality: affordable health care for all, new jobs from clean energy, and an economy that works for everyone.

Thank you for all you do.

Senator-elect Al Franken

Say it loud, say it proud:

  • affordable health care for all,
  • new jobs from clean energy, and
  • an economy that works for everyone.

  6. Congrats to Senator-Elect Franken! Gosh darn it, people do like him. I think he’s going to be a great senator and I look forward to someone with wit skewering Republicans during debates.

  7. The Dems have no sustainable plan for affordable health care, not unless you count a plan which increases new spending by 1 Trillion dollars?

New jobs from Green Technology is a farce. Renewable and alternative energy is a great idea but many of the people who will work in green technology will simply change jobs from “old” technology. No gains.

Making the economy work for everyone is code for more taxes, more regulations and more government spending-no Thanks.

Al Franken somehow gets a pass for being a total goof ball yet you Dems/Libs attack Gov Palin non stop? Can’t wait to heat Franken denate throw weight or BMD.

  11. I’m all for branding Democrats.

It will let the decent people know who to avoid. 🙂

(And yes, I am kidding — I am married to a Democrat. I ‘ve always figured if that is her worst character defect, I can put up with it.)

democrats already have plenty of brands…News Journal, New York Times, CNN, NBC, CBS…
