Filed in National by on July 15, 2009 31 Comments

Polly Adams Mervine’s candidacy for the Senate was launched on Monday, and she has a campaign website up and running too. He campaign slogans: “Roots Run Deep in Sussex,” and “Another Generation of Leadership,” in case it was not obvious already that she is Adams’ daughter. Her campaign is also on Facebook and you can follow her on Twitter.

And on her website she has an issues section, if you can call general bromides issues.

Fox News reports on the challenge of a wingnut soldier against deployment to Afghanistan like it’s real news and a real issue for Obama. It isn’t. Psssst…Fox, don’t encourage the fringe crazies, it hurts your credibility. Not that they had much credibility anyway. And for crazy anon, here’s his birth certificate and birth announcement. Senator Adams’ Last Punch in the Gut

Filed in Delaware by on July 14, 2009 19 Comments

I have been talking to a few people downstate recently and have been getting a feel for the race for Adams seat. Honestly, I don’t know a damned thing about Polly, so I cannot tell you whether or not she would make a good Senator or not…
But this post isn’t about Polly. It is about what her Father pulled in his 2nd to the last day in the Senate. It is about the Violent Crimes Compensation Board (now re-formed as the Victims’ Compensation Assistance Program) and what the restructuring meant to one of Thurman Adams’ friends, Leah Betts.

Don’t Know Much About History

Filed in National by on July 14, 2009 12 Comments

Stories like this make me angry.  Is our goal really to become the dumbest country on the planet?  Perhaps we should rethink the Texas secession thing… especially given their influence over the textbook market. The Texas Board of Education, which recently approved new science standards that made room for creationist critiques of evolution, is revising […]

All the signs are pointing to a Castle Senate run and I appears that the fix is in. Just check out the Newark Post coverage of the AMTRACK stimulus event:

The Amtrak Bear Car Shops took time out to celebrate the completion of the first passenger car to be rebuilt with stimulus funds.

Sen. Thomas Carper, Gov. Jack Markell and U.S. Rep. Mike Castle joined Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman and employees at the sprawling complex off Route 40 to tour the rebuilt car that was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
