Where Polly Stands
Polly Adams Mervine’s candidacy for the Senate was launched on Monday, and she has a campaign website up and running too. He campaign slogans: “Roots Run Deep in Sussex,” and “Another Generation of Leadership,” in case it was not obvious already that she is Adams’ daughter. Her campaign is also on Facebook and you can follow her on Twitter.
And on her website she has an issues section, if you can call general bromides issues.
Late Night Oddity: Fox Goes Birther
Fox News reports on the challenge of a wingnut soldier against deployment to Afghanistan like it’s real news and a real issue for Obama. It isn’t. Psssst…Fox, don’t encourage the fringe crazies, it hurts your credibility. Not that they had much credibility anyway. And for crazy anon, here’s his birth certificate and birth announcement. Update […]
Senator Adams’ Last Punch in the Gut
I have been talking to a few people downstate recently and have been getting a feel for the race for Adams seat. Honestly, I don’t know a damned thing about Polly, so I cannot tell you whether or not she would make a good Senator or not…
But this post isn’t about Polly. It is about what her Father pulled in his 2nd to the last day in the Senate. It is about the Violent Crimes Compensation Board (now re-formed as the Victims’ Compensation Assistance Program) and what the restructuring meant to one of Thurman Adams’ friends, Leah Betts.
Evening Castle Update
The Post’s Chris Cilzza has this to say about the GOP’s prospects of holding onto Castle’s seat in the house and some wingnut who hates reality is mad at Castle.
Classic Protack from 2006
Yello Elephant, Ryan S documented this Protack appearance the University of Delaware in 2006 when he was running against Jan Ting.
As you read this, consider the fact that he would have beaten Ting if Christine O’Whackjob didn’t skim off a handful of his voters

Breaking News: Young Democrat activist and one time KHN campaign staffer, Mat Marshall has announced he’s recently registered as a Republican. Filling in for host Rick Jensen (who is off having his cloven hooves filed today) is Tyler Patrick Nixon who is a Republican with common sense. (That is to say he one of two […]
Don’t Know Much About History
Stories like this make me angry. Is our goal really to become the dumbest country on the planet? Perhaps we should rethink the Texas secession thing… especially given their influence over the textbook market. The Texas Board of Education, which recently approved new science standards that made room for creationist critiques of evolution, is revising […]
Scientists Differ Significantly From The Public
First, test your science literacy against the general public with this short quiz. The Pew Center recently released the results of a study comparing scientists to the general public and have found that scientists views of themselves, of controversies and of politics are significantly different than the public. First, 84% of Americans say that science […]
Fresh Sotomayor Hearings Thread
Since you were all so chatty yesterday, here’s a fresh new thread to discuss the Sonia Sotomayor hearings. Here’s a recap of yesterday’s hearings from TPM. Here are yesterday’s opening statements. Pay special attention to Senator Whitehouse’s statement. Plus, brand new Senator Franken spoke! w00t! TPM is also featuring liveblogging by a legal expert.
Deep Anger Management Thought
Even Matt Denn tells me I need to get over it. Just let it wash over me that Mike Castle lied his ass off. He will be our next Senator….Ohhhmmmm….let that manra somehow bring me peace. Matt is wise and I guess he has a point. I’d be a lot more easy going if I […]
Okay. Mike Castle is our Next Senator. It has been decided on high.
All the signs are pointing to a Castle Senate run and I appears that the fix is in. Just check out the Newark Post coverage of the AMTRACK stimulus event:
The Amtrak Bear Car Shops took time out to celebrate the completion of the first passenger car to be rebuilt with stimulus funds.
Sen. Thomas Carper, Gov. Jack Markell and U.S. Rep. Mike Castle joined Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman and employees at the sprawling complex off Route 40 to tour the rebuilt car that was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
