The DNC Gets a Pair
By now everyone has seen the hard hitting, DNC Ad that calls out the Republican party for allowing itself to be taken over by a bunch of birth certificate waving, gun toting idiots.
I was happy to see that DNC taking a shot at the ongoing nonsense that passes for political thought on the right, but wondered about how effective it might be until I happened to tune into FOX News this morning and caught their take on the ads.
Guess what? Fox News has taken a position that the ads don’t work because…get this…Democrats also have lunatics.
While I recently thought that the “Democrats do it too” was a talking point of last resort, clung to by wingnut DL commenters like a deck chair in the floating remains of the USS GOP, it is the top line talking point being spread over the airwaves by Michelle Malkin and the Greek chorus of Fox News Bimbos.
Needless to say I was shocked and pleasantly so.
The FOX News (…Democrats also have lunatics) spin tells me two things:
1) that the GOP has even fewer clues than I could ever dream of, and
2) The DNC is onto something big.
Let’s face it, the DNC is not known for being a very courageous institution. It is not likely that they have not polled and focus group tested the message that Republicans have gone mental to within an inch of its life. It is impossible to imagine a DNC that would take a chance on this ad without knowing that it would not pay off, and pay off over the next couple of election cycles.
So there it is. With that DNC spot and the Fox News response you have the storyline for the foreseeable future.
It is a story line that this blog has been pushing for a while and to the DNC I say, welcome to the fight and have fun. When you go looking for proof that your thesis is right on target – the Republicans are all too eager to provide it.
3) Quite interesting, Fox News says: “Democrats also have lunatics.”
The operative word is ‘also’, an admission that the Right has lunatics. I’m sure they didn’t mean it!
By the way, have you seen this list which debunks the myths being used by the lunatic fringe on the Right against health insurance reform, put up by MM?

July and August have seen a flurry of good economic news (home sales up, Clunkers rocks, stock market up, consumer spending up) as the Administration’s policies have begun to stabilize the economy and move the country out of the deep recession republicans left us.
Add this to the list:
The number of newly-laid off workers seeking unemployment insurance fell last week, the government said Thursday, fresh evidence that layoffs are easing and the worst of the recession is over.
so even though unemployment is increasing, it’s increasing at a slower rate…you sound like Joe “Fredo” Biden
