Can New Castle County Executive Chris Coons keep a Chief Administration Officer? The answer is, apparently, no. Effective September 1st, Coons is on to his fourth Chief Administration Officer in four years, according to the Community News.
Current CAO Tracy Surles is returning to the Department of Special Services and, on Sept. 1st, New Castle County Police Chief Rick Gregory will be CAO. Any bets on who will be CAO next year?
And a reminder that the New Castle County Council will be discussing the proposed ethics changes next week as we have already discussed here at Delaware Liberal.

It’s well known that the rats jump off a sinking ship….can you blame them???? My only hope is that this ‘captain’ mans up and goes down with USS ‘Leaking NCC’.
I got a few telephone calls last night complaining that the person who was bumped up to Chief is a Coons family pal. The dude supposedly jogs with Coons’ wife and regularly ingratiates himself with the Executive. Must be sooooooooooo nice to get a triple promotion in the space of a few weeks right up to the top of the food chain over the heads of several other more qualified officers because you are a Coons’ family friend.
I understand the the FOP is a crazy-pissed about this as you might expect them to be. We should be seeing some fireworks soon. Oh dat Chrissy.
wow the voices in your head are in overdrive Nancy. He jogs with his wife and that is why he gets promoted? Get a life.
I think that Nancy had a similar tale when Tracy Surles got promoted too. But where Chris Coons is concerned, Nancy is a seething mass of resentments. No one knows why. No one cares to find out.
Don’t forget his bud AF Community Services general manager… who’s terrorizing County employees, which is apparently condoned by HR and higher ups. It’s getting to the point they’d rather have Sherry Freberry back.
