    In 2006, Democrats tried to end the practice. The amendment was in committee. All ten no votes were Republicans, including Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming), a member of the “Gang of Six” on the Finance Committee. The vote was 10-10. Ties mean an amendment fails.

    The republicans voted no because they viewed it as unneccesary regulation of the insurance industry.

    And women are republicans why?
