Republican Outreach Fail!

The NRCC apparently had a banner day in their communications department yesterday. The NRCC has decided to make Nancy Pelosi their target for the elections and sent out this email:

NRCC communications director Ken Spain, quoted in the fundraising email: “”Nancy Pelosi continues to make party politics a higher priority than our national security. Rather than listening to a four-star general’s assessments on Afghanistan, General Pelosi somehow believes she is better suited to craft our country’s military policy.”

“Taxpayers can only hope McChrystal is able to put her in her place,” the email concludes.

Please tell me, NRCC – what is Nancy’s “place?” Seriously though, can the NRCC send out a communication that doesn’t alienate large swathes of the population?

In other news of Republican press communication skills, one of Chris Dodd’s potential opponents pulls the Nazi card:

In an interview with the Washington Post yesterday, former Ron Paul economic adviser Peter Schiff, who is now running as a Republican for Connecticut’s U.S. Senate seat, feigned modesty when asked about his candidacy, saying that he wasn’t “heroic” for running for office. However, he then compared himself to the heroes who fought in World War II against Nazi Germany:

I’m interrupting my career. It’s not like I want my new career in politics. But I’m willing to interrupt it the same way that somebody interrupted their career and joined World War II and went off to fight the Nazis.

Schiff added that he doesn’t think he’s “that heroic” and admitted he’s not “risking as much as a soldier.” “But it’s the same principle,” he added.

Yes, Peter Schiff, it’s just like that. 🙄
