To all those people who thought they could do a better job with budget – well here’s your chance.
it’s going to get ugly. the state 2011 budget is already 200 million in the hole. That’s the non-repeating federal funds they used to prop up the 2010 budget.
These are pretty interesting preliminary hearings as this is sort of a ‘casting call’ for inclusions into the budget that the Governor will submit to the General Assembly at the end of January. It is likely that Executive Branch agencies have already been given parameters, so you’ll get an early sense of how Markell plans to address another difficult year. Minner did it with across-the-board cuts, but I doubt that Markell would adopt such a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution.
