Wednesday Open Thread
It’s Wednesday, the day after an election. I know all you political junkies out there needed a little boost before the big election season next year in Delaware, just to make sure you’re not rusty.
Here’s a piece of good news – the racist judge who refused to marry an interracial couple in Louisiana has resigned:
A Louisiana justice of the peace who drew criticism for refusing to marry an interracial couple has resigned, the secretary of state’s office said Tuesday.
Keith Bardwell resigned in person at the Louisiana secretary of state’s office, said spokesman Jacques Berry. The state Supreme Court will appoint an interim justice of the peace to fill Bardwell’s position, Berry said, and a special election will be held next year to fill the position permanently.
There’s no word from Bardwell on how many African Americans have used his bathroom lately.
Oh, surprise, surprise – the reported “spike” in Fox News ratings due to the war with the White House is false:
Fact: The breathless claim that Fox News’ ratings recently spiked thanks to the White House’s public critique is bogus hype — hype that Fox News and the Beltway press have relentlessly pushed.
It’s just not true.
No matter how many times reporters and pundits made the claim, a detailed analysis of Nielsen ratings numbers clearly indicates that in the two weeks after the White House in mid-October sparked a media controversy by claiming Rupert Murdoch’s channel was not a legitimate news organization, Fox News’ ratings did not soar or go “through the roof.” In fact, not only did Fox News’ overall ratings not soar, they experienced no significant increase at all. Instead, in the two weeks following the initial verbal jousts with the White House, Fox News’ total day ratings virtually flatlined.
Apparently the conservative blogs compared 14 days data (before first reports of a feud with the WH) with 12 days data (after), conveniently leaving out the two lowest viewing days, the weekend. D’oh!

LOL nemski! You’re right, it’s just so wrong but so funny.
LMAO.. I am chuckling through this and wondering what Glenn Beck’s reaction is as if he was watching it. Not his TV reaction, we all know he’d be crying for the cameras.. but his real “WTF, why me” reaction.
Obama Watched HBO Special About Himself Instead of Election Results
Newsbusters ^ | November 4, 2009 | Kyle Drennen
During the 10AM ET hour of America’s Newsroom on Fox News Channel, fill-in co-host Martha Maccallum told viewers what President Obama watched on election night while Democrats suffered big losses in New Jersey and Virginia: “Robert Gibbs said, well, he was actually watching, you know, the HBO special about his year-long campaign and how it all went.” On Tuesday night the White House had worked to downplay the Democratic gubernatorial defeats by claiming the President did not watch the election returns. Apparently Gibbs thought it would look better if the commander in chief was watching a self-indulgent fawning documentary about…
lizard, I watched V instead of returns.
Awesome video Nemski. It just picks up steam, and get s funnier and funnier the whole time.
