It’s open thread time! I know you’ve been waiting. I like to keep you all guessing, I’m just crazy like that.
Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) is now distancing herself from the use of Holocaust imagery at last week’s Capitol Tea Party, which she had organized and promoted, after a Jewish Democratic Congressman called on her to apologize for leading the event and not denouncing the offending posters.
“Sadly, some individuals chose to marginalize tragic events in human history, such as the Holocaust, by invoking imagery and labels which have no purpose in a policy debate about health care,” Bachmann said in a statement. “These regrettable actions negatively shift the focus of the current discussion on this issue. The American people deserve an open and honest debate to ensure the best possible solution to our health care problems, and I agree that these unfortunate instances are wholly inappropriate.”
I’m not sure why it took her a week to figure out that this was inappropriate.
And will wonders never cease? Sean Hannity admits that he was wrong to use the 9/12 protest footage in place of the footage from the Bachmann protest:
Hannity’s apology came at the end of his show.
“Although it pains me to say this, Jon Stewart, Comedy Central, he was right.”
Hannity continued:
Now on his program last night he mentioned that we had played some incorrect video on this program last week while talking about the Republican health care rally on Capitol Hill. He was correct. We screwed up. We aired some video of a rally in September, along with the video from the actual event. It was an inadvertent mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. So Mr. Stewart, you were right. We apologize. But by the way, I wanna thank you and all your writers for watching.
Yeah, I’m sure it was just a mistake. It’s not like Hannity has ever edited video to make it sound like President Obama said the opposite of what he really said or anything. Sean Hannity is definitely someone we can trust.
