I am pretty sure when you lie about what Jesus said, you are going straight to Hell.
“Now, after someone dies and someone comes in and steals from them, we consider that in most society reprehensible. … But when the government comes in, because we have the power to pass laws and legalize theft that otherwise would be considered reprehensible, it’s okay. But it is not okay. … Jesus never advocated the government go steal. He said ‘you do it. Do it with your own money, don’t steal it from somebody else.’ And that is why this should not pass”
Jesus Christ, Son of God, never said anything of the sort. Sure, you personally shouldn’t steal, and Jesus endorsed that Commandment, but Christ actually said “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Mark 12:7 (King James). Jesus also said “It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:23.
Personally, I have found politicians that seek to argue that God is on their side or that wear their religion on their sleeve know very little about what they are talking about. Mr. Gohmert has probably never read what Jesus has said. Yet he pretends to speak for Jesus.
