What do Michael Jackson, acai berries, Voodoo Doughnuts and swine flu have in common? (Voodoo Doughnuts??)
What do Heath Ledger, John McCain, Circuit City and wii have in common?
Every year, Google does its year-end Zeitgeist, which reflects every single subject click on the entire Google network. No doubt if this list had actually been released at the very end of the year, Tiger Woods and a whole slew of cocktail waitresses would’ve figured more prominently.
In answer to my questions, and although it will come as small solace to the Gloved One, those highlighted in the first question enjoyed, if that is the word, among the largest increases in Google hits this year.
And, those highlighted in the second question were sliding towards oblivion. (I also guess that it means that you can pick up wii stuff real cheap this Christmas.)
This is the type of data that Nate Silver and John Tobin live for.
There’s all kinds of neat links and explanations on the Google Zeitgeist. In fact, methinks I’ll catch up on the doings of that Lady Gaga just as soon as I’m done checking out Voodoo Doughnuts.
