Governor Markell Discusses Delaware as a Wind Energy Hub

Governor Markell addressed the AWEA’s Offhsore Wind Workshop a few weeks back, highlighting his plans to make Delaware a hub of offshore wind energy expertise and manufacturing. We’ve been enthusiastic about this previously, and we’re still enthusiastic. Starting with the U of D really evolving as a major research center for applied alternate energy strategies, to the Bluewater Wind effort, to work to manufacture components here there is great groundwork to grow a real next generation piece of the economy right here. And most of these jobs will be well-paying jobs for trained scientists, engineers and technicians whose work will be very hard to outsource. This is an important initiative by the Markell Administration and while we are going into a budget season where lots of us will have plenty of reason to be unhappy with the Governor, this work to jumpstart a new and very important industry here is a thing to be really proud of. This is video of the Governor speaking to the AWEA Offshore Workshop:
