I’m in meeting hell today, so you’ll have to entertain yourselves. Have fun!
Progressive hero Alan Grayson tells Cheney to STFU:
Some early reviews of Justice Sotomayor are coming in and Clarence Thomas is not pleased. I tend to think this is a sign she’s doing something right.
The decision was unanimous, but Justice Clarence Thomas declined to join the part of Justice Sotomayor’s opinion discussing why the cost of allowing immediate appeals outweighs the possibility that candid communications between lawyers and their clients might be chilled.
In a concurrence, Justice Thomas took a swipe at his new colleague, saying she had “with a sweep of the court’s pen” substituted “value judgments” and “what the court thinks is a good idea” for the text of a federal law.

Hey, if we are not getting a robust public option, Obama is released from his deal with pharma. Now we can start pushing for negotiated prices and reimportation.
Here’s something to make everyone laugh – Call the Nestle Crunch Hot line at 1-800-295-0051. When you are asked if you want to continue in English or Spanish, just wait quietly for about 10 seconds and you will smile. Promise! (if you comment on this after listening, don’t give away the surprise) keep going and press 4 listen to the options….then press 7, funny!!!
MJ, the line is busy – you broke it! 😉
I give up on health care. We might as well just ban recission and other vile practices, since that will benefit consumers without giving any of our money to private insurers. Then just up the cap on Medicaid a little bit, and throw in some electronic records provision to cut the cost.
Then we vote Baucus, Lieberman, Lincoln, Nelson, and Carper out of congress.
And find a new majority leader – I’d prefer Kerry.
If the line is busy, keep trying. It’s worth it.
Spitzer eyes comptroller job in 2010
New York Post ^ | Last Updated: 12:53 PM, December 10, 2009 | By MAGGIE HABERMAN
Eliot Spitzer, who stepped down from the governor’s office amid scandal, is now strongly considering a run for state comptroller…. Spitzer has in recent weeks had discussions with some Democratic donors and insiders about the position currently held by Tom DiNapoli…. A Democrat who spoke with Spitzer said, “He’s seriously thinking about it.” “He wants to run if he can,” said another source. “He’s still talking about it.” Gov. Paterson backed the idea.
OK now that was awesomely funny! Thanks MJ!
And unfortunately calling this number is apparently what everyone in my office will be doing the rest of the day….
Re: The War on Xmas Party. Should I go as Gog or as Magog? Anybody got pix?
I can’t wait until my kids get home from school! Thanks, MJ! However did you discover this?
My brother in Denver sent it to me. I have no idea how he found it, but I got a good laugh off of it, which I sorely needed.
Then we vote Baucus, Lieberman, Lincoln, Nelson, and Carper out of congress.
The Repubs will take care of Harry. We just need to deal with Carper but there aren’t many options there. Obama needs to appoint Carper to something pronto. If a Castle style Republican ran against Carper I would probably vote for the Republican at this point.
Anti-social network encourages you to terminate your Facebook account.. basically you go to seppukoo.com and enter your real Facebook password. The site will then install an appropriate memorial page, delete all your other material on Facebook, then contacts all your friends inviting them to do the same. It is like a digital Jonestown.
It is run by an absurdist “virtual art group from Italy.”
I’m waiting for the Twitter version to come out.
Poll: Liberals more in touch with Great Beyond than conservatives
Washington Times ^ | 12/10/2009 | Jennifer Harper
Politics and policy are not the only things that separate conservatives and liberals, Republicans and Democrats. There’s a partisan divide when it comes to the proverbial Great Beyond as well. Twenty-one percent of Republicans and 36 percent of Democrats have been in touch with the dearly departed. Nine percent of the Grand Old Party have consulted a fortuneteller, compared to 22 percent of the Democrats. And 15 percent of Republicans say that yoga is a “spiritual” practice, compared to 31 percent of Democrats. “Conservatives and Republicans report fewer experiences than liberals or Democrats communicating with the dead, seeing ghosts and…
