Coalition Of The Bribed
The Republicans must be having a hard time building a real grassroots movement. Their anti-health care reform die in was a bust yesterday when only 60 people showed up and none of them actually pretended to die. They are sending anti-reform form letters to Congress through Facebook games. Now, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is offering $150 Hooters cards to complete a survey and receive email from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Online ads have popped up lately, telling readers that they can win a $150 Amex Gift Card for use at Hooters, if they complete a survey about other offers. One of those urges them to sign up for “free emails” from the Chamber of Commerce, which will explain “how to protect your family’s future and bring common sense solutions to the health-care debate.” In other words, getting involved with the Chamber’s campaign against reform. These “incentivized ads” appear to be the favored new tactic of lobbying groups looking to generate the appearance of grassroots support for their positions.

Hey… did they hire a new social media consultant?
“They are sending anti-reform form letters to Congress through Facebook games.”
this is actually REALLY annoying. I’m a facebook junkie, and my inbox is FLOODED with America Taliban ads. It seems they have learned to use the internet as well as people who sell ironic t-shirts
tree huggers appear much more organized in Coppenhagen…
bribed? like Mary Landru or the Black Congressional Caucus?
Landrieu was simply carrying on the long tradition of Louisiana pols by leveraging her vote with money that is sorely needed down there. I think it was Delaware Dem who commented that she did a good job on behalf of her constituents — that’s what she’s there for. Unlike some in the Senate who couldn’t care less about the constituents but love to be in the limelight. Blanking Joe Briberman.
Puhlease: Landrieu, Leiberman, Carper, Nelson et al are a DISGRACE ato the democratic party. HOWARD DEAN IS RIGHT AND THESE CORRUPT BLUE DOGS ARE DEAD WRONG! Leave it to the democrat Rebecca Young to plug the corporate prostitute Landrieu. Damn you people are truly ignorant of what is going on! Start the countdown to a one term president Mr. Obama. And by the way, check this out. Did you know that Obama is going to allow oil drilling in Alaska? Now thats MORE HOPE AND CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. Lieberman is to the go to man for AIPAC in the Senate, like Rahm is the go to man in the White House. Leibermans deal is simple. Obama/Clinton want the illegal settlements stopped. Leiberman is absolutley Israel first. Thats why Obama told Reid, “give him what he wants”, hows that for cowtowing to another Israel firster.
There can’t be any new jobs created, unless the cost of health care is dealt with. This corporate giveaway to the insurance companies is not reform. Wait until you are forced to buy a policy that can cost whatever these corrupt corporations what to charge you. $9000 this year, $15,000 next year! There is no reigning them in without a public option or medicare for all. You might ask why the Sanders amendment or HR676 was never delivered to the Congressional Budget office. Guess what it was a few years ago. The numbers were so low they refused to publish the findings. But some on the inside did have copies are distributed them to activists who were working on the single payer bill. Many are doctors who formed “mad as hell doctors”. Corporations will continue to outsource to single payer countries, or countries with know health care. The only hope for this country now is for the federal government to throw billions at shovel ready jobs, green jobs. Other than than expect a depression or a continuation of this horrendous recession for years to come.
Do It Just Kiddin’!
I watched Landrieu disgrace herself on Hardball tonight. Among the many lies she told, she claimed to Dean’s face that he wanted to eliminate private insurance companies. How GOP of her.
And then she claimed that you can’t use reconciliation to work the health care bill. I just read an excellent rebuttal of that by Jon Walker on FDL. And Dean has an op-ed up at WaPo that goes into some detail. Kos also just posted his 20 answers to Nate Silver. (sorry no links – I put them on twitter and facebook though)
Progressives should fight for a decent bill. Carper was front and center behind the sham vote against Dorgan last night and Ted Kaufman was right along with him.
Real Progressives are so disgusted with the democrats they are shaking with unbelievability. Your right Nancy, Landrieu lied threw her white capped teeth. Howard Dean didnt back down from the truth but Chris Matthews a “small r repuke himself” wanted to give her the last word. She is a disgrace! Too bad we dont have recall in this country, many of us would be recalling many of these blue dog republicans in their hearts, starting with Tom Carper right here in corporate owned and controlled Delaware.
The proble is that these foolish demorats think there will be no challenge to Obama in 2012. They know they are going to loose seats in 2010. Damn straight they will. It will be the health care bill, the new Afganistan War, and drilling for oil in Alaska that will be there downfall. Sarah Palin will look good come 2012.
Feelin’ the rage yet? I am and I’m in the mood to take no prisoners. The silver lining, if any, is that nobody really cares about the Republicans but themselves, they have convinced no one but there base. As progressives we need to redouble our efforts to get even a sliver of what we want.
