God Works In Mysterious Ways

Remember Sen. Coburn’s very classy call to pray someone didn’t show up to vote on the Senate health care reform bill? Well, interestingly, this morning one Senator didn’t show up for the vote. It wasn’t Robert Byrd, it was Sen. Inhofe. A caller to C-SPAN worried that his prayer (he called himself a teabagger, too) killed Sen. Inhofe. (Sen. Inhofe, as far as I know, is fine.)

On C-Span this morning, a caller wondered if perhaps Coburn’s prayer request had “backfire[ed]” against his own party:

CALLER: Yeah doctor. Our small tea bag group here in Waycross, we got our vigil together and took Dr. Coburn’s instructions and prayed real hard that Sen. Byrd would either die or couldn’t show up at the vote the other night.

How hard did you pray because I see one of our members was missing this morning. Did it backfire on us? One of our members died? How hard did you pray senator? Did you pray hard enough?

While Barrasso didn’t answer the question directly, he said he didn’t know why Inhofe missed the vote. Both Coburn and Inhofe’s offices did not respond to inquiries from ThinkProgress for comment. Watch it:

I really hope this is a joke and group didn’t actually get together to pray for Sen. Byrd to die.

Of course they prayed for Byrd to die. Tea baggers are pure evil. Some of they actively state they want Obama assassinated. Most of them wish it privately.

Inhofe likely is tired, given his recent global warming-denying jaunt to Copenhagen, and I hope it is nothing more serious than exhaustion. It would be karmic, though, if something did befall him.

Here is a hint to the teabagging bigots everywhere: God cares not about our minor politics. He cares about whether you are a good person. And praying for someone to die for political reasons automatically makes you a bad person, and enemy of God. But at least you have a friend in Satan, teabaggers.

This is simply outrageous. Praying for somebody to die so a bill will fail? I feel like I’m reading the Enquire. What kind of pit do these people live in? I am completely and utterly appalled.

Did the good senator actually say pray for someone to die ? Or is that your interpretation.

  4. A. price says:

he didnt say “die” but he did say “not make it”. Pray to your “loving” god that misfortune would cause a democratic senator to not show up.

The repuke party is nothing more than 10 metric f*ckloads of crap in a 9 pound bag

and that HAS to be a joke. and i wish i had thought to do that. kudos whoever made that call

Just like that preacher in Arizona who continually prays that BHO dies. Totally sick. These a**wipes should be thankful they don’t live in Iran or Iraq where they’d probably be thrown in prison.
