You Can Count On Sarah…
…to show up to cash in on her payday, that is. The high profile Tea Party convention in Nashville is falling apart, with sponsors pulling out as well as crazy Congresswomen Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). Sarah Palin still plans on attending. It’s been reported that she’s being paid between $100,000 – $150,000 for her hour-long speech.
The former Alaska governor still plans to speak at the much-maligned National Tea Party Convention next month in Nashville. “You betcha I’m going to be there,” she told Fox News last night.
That pledge comes despite the fact that in recent weeks, other planned speakers and sponsors have rushed to the exits amid concerns that the event’s organizer, Nashvillle lawyer Judson Phillips, intends to profit financially from the venture.
Yesterday brought the latest mass exodus. First, as we reported, the convention’s two other Republican speakers, Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee backed out in quick succession, with Blackburn declaring: “It’s a ‘We the people’ event and I think sometimes it’s become about ‘I the organizer,’ for the organizer.”
The tickets for the event haven’t sold out, so Sarah may be speaking to a half-empty room. But hey, what does that matter, she still gets the same fee, right?

sarah only sees dollar signs. She’ll talk to a room full of stuffed animals if you payed her enough.
I not sure about that, a. price. Palin is pretty good at quitting when things get too difficult. And given her book sales and her new gig with FOX 100,000+ seems like a drop in the bucket.
Hmmm… how involved is FOX with this event? And if they aren’t involved are they planning a massive on-air promotion?
I just think there’s more to Palin’s stance than money, but, hey, I could be wrong!
“It’s been reported that she’s being paid between $100,000 – $150,000 for her hour-long speech.”
Tell me that I’m the only one fixated on the phrase ‘her hour-long speech.’ Any bets on how many minutes she can speak without a teleprompter, the very item that she chastised Obama about during the campaign?
I’ll bet under five minutes.
I’d also bet that she won’t take questions, either. Or certainly won’t if the press is in the room, which these guys seem really allergic to.
My theory is that she is going after the Newt Gingrich model — always out for a payday as a way to maintain a profile that provides you a way to claim some relevance. It’s easier than being a, hmm, Governor — and there is more money in it.
She can also give the speech, take the money, and then throw the entire event under the bus. She can – dare I say it? – go rogue after the check clears.
i just find it amazing it has taken this long for her to fade away. we are gonna look back on Palin and cringe like we do with leg warmers or mullets.
