Paterson Ends Gubernatorial Campaign
Less than 48 hours after the New York Times revealed in a bombshell story that the administration of Gov. David Paterson had intervened in the domestic violence case of a top aide, Paterson has decided to pull the plug on his campaign for governor, the Daily News and the Post are reporting.
No official announcement has been made, but the Post says one is expected later today. Two sources familiar with the decision confirmed to TPM that Paterson will end his campaign.
Paterson became governor of New York after Eliot Spitzer resigned. He was losing badly to primary rival Andrew Cuomo and was also polling badly against possible Republican challengers.

Why do Liberals hate Black people? It was a racist conspiracy.
No, David, we hate the legally blind.
Liberals don’t hate Black people or the legally blind. We just can’t stand stupid people, like you David. And what Patterson did was stupid.
Oh come on, the only way you guys would back a black guy is if he were half white. Patterson said that he was being attacked because he was black back in the fall. Not being a racist, I am not contradicting him. The NYT would rather have a white guy than a black guy. Who do you libs side with more, the first black governor or the New York Times?
Do you see how easy it is to play that game? It can get a little silly after awhile.
I spent an hour the other day reading the state report on the NY state Senate Democratic offices when Patterson was majority leader. It was clear that he’s the perfect example of the Peter Principle. He may be a very nice guy (though he sounds like a jerk to me), but he’s clearly the type of person who surrounds himself with friends and allies, valuing loyalty and friendship over competence and managerial ability. This was a train wreck waiting to happen from the start.
