Who is Contacting Me? for June 29th 2010
Only the freaking VIce President of the United States, that’s who… Golly, I must be important.
Dear jason,
Republican strategists think they can turn 2010 into 1994. They think they can take control of the Senate and undermine President Obama in the process. We have just four months to prove them wrong.
Four months to tell the American people that Democrats haven’t stood down in the face of great challenges. We’ve stood up. We’ve put millions of Americans back to work, dramatically reformed health care, strengthened our standing in the world, and done so much more.
It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t always popular, but we put the country back on the right path. Republicans didn’t lift a finger to help.
Oh wait. This is a fundraising thingy. That reminds me, I have a bone to pick with Democratic fundraisers, but let me read on and see what Joe needs from little old me.
If we want this progress to be the first chapter and not the end of the story, we need to make sure the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has what it needs to do what they do best – elect Democrats to the Senate.
June 30 marks a big fundraising deadline for the DSCC. You and I need to make sure they meet their goal so they can do everything our candidates need to win.
Click here to donate $5 or more to the DSCC. The DSCC needs to meet its goal in the next 48 hours to keep pace with the Republicans. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact.
Hmmm…$5 to help Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson? I don’t think so.
Look folks, I spent 36 years in the United States Senate. I’ve seen first-hand the kind of power senators have to advance the president’s agenda – or halt it. I know that if we lose our majority, making progress on so many of the things we care about – reforming education, protecting our environment, investing in clean energy – is going to get a whole lot harder.
And with this new breed of Republican candidates beholden to the far right wing of the Republican Party, it could be downright impossible.
Okay. That’s enough of that. Here is my pet peeve. Democratic fundraising emails get it. I’m bombarded with the urgent message that the Democratic Party is 100% clued in and fully understands the mortal threat that Republicans represent to the country. The problem is these fundraisers (even Joe Biden in this case) don’t seem to communicate with the people they are raising money for (The DSCC) in this case. Give money to the DSCC to help prevent Republicans from taking over and you can bet that it will be used to help Republicans take over.

Those DSCC “Shill Of The Week” emails are annoying.
Give directly to the candidates. When I am feeling down on Democrats, it is therapeutic to send 50 bucks to a candidate who has just said or done something that sounds Democratic. If I keep doing it on a regular basis maybe it will encourage them.
I just wish that there was some way that the fundraisers could communicate with the party. Perhaps a system of connected computer terminals linked in a sort of network or web? Think thinking out loud.
