UPDATED: O’Donnell Skips Delaware, Attempts to Land Big Wingnut Fish
UPDATE: Rick Jensen interviewed conservative pollster Scott Rasmussen who thinks the teabagger deus ex machina of the Palin endorsement can easily put O’Donnell over the top in the primary. Warning: Rick Jensen blathers 90% of the time during the interview, but allows Rasmussen to get a word in edgewise every now and then.
Politico’s David Catanese gives the thirsty O’Whackjob campaign a sip of media water with this post about how O’Donnell has pinned her hopes on two big endorsements: Jim DeMint, and celebrity con artist, Sarah Palin.
O’Donnell, a marketing consultant challenging Castle from the right, told POLITICO she’s been courting support from both DeMint and Palin, in the hope of adding some energy to what has so far been an obscure primary fight. “I strongly believe that if we do get these endorsements, that will help bring to light what is at stake in this election,” she explained
O’Donnell is hoping for the same kind of teabagger deus ex machina that helped Scott Brown, but Cantanese does not fail to mention why those big fish are probably not going to bite on O’Donnell’s worm
O’Donnell also brings notable liabilities to the race: though she’s stressing her fiscal conservative credentials, she amassed thousands of dollars in campaign debt during a 2008 bid against then-Sen. Joe Biden. She sold her home in order to settle a mortgage claim and has been accused of owing $11,000 in federal taxes. O’Donnell has also failed to file personal financial disclosure reports in a timely fashion.
I’d put the chances of DeMint endorsing O’Donnell at zero. Palin is a wild card though. Who knows, in Palin’s grifter mind, being accused of owing $11,000 in federal taxes might be a virtue?

David A actually said this in a blog post, although I am not masochistic enough to hunt for the link. Something like how her base is anti-tax, so a tax lien is no problem.
The right has become impossible to satirize.
“bite on O’Donnell’s worm”???
I have to call Matthews to see if he read that.
I stand by that. A tax dispute is not the same as tax dodging. It is a none issue. The problem is an out of control IRS which should be replaced with the FAIR tax collection agency not her. In case you also missed the facts, the IRS said it was a mistake. The lien was sent after a letter clarifying the matter and quickly withdrawn. As I said with our Sec. of Treasury appointed to the department that overseas the IRS, I have no problem with someone who understands first hand dealing with the IRS. I never had a tax problem personally, but I helped friends and family members who had. They were a mess back before W Bush made them kinder and gentler.
David stands on his assertion that Republican grifters are not put off by other Republican grifters.
Re: the Jensen interview. I have to wonder if Castle isn’t working the back channels furiously to try and head off a Palin endorsement of O”Donnell. It is the one thing that could really flip over the chess board.
Golly. It occurs to me that If we had a functioning news media in this state, someone could call Castle in order to get a comment on the Politico story.
I hope she wins!
Ditto, dv, ditto.
Too bad you guys ban Mike Protack, he is the guy with the goods on O’Donnell. In 2006 he refused to go after her and it cost him the nomination.
I don’t miss Protack one bit.
You guys banned Protack? ….and Anonone is still here? What did Protack do, kill someone?
This is a political blog and Protack knows nothing about politics. When we become an aviation blog in 2011, he’ll be allowed back in.
As for anonone, he’s like the crazy cousin chained in the attic. It’s best if we don’t mention him.
Roger.
I am your prophet, nemski. Even jason has come around to see that. But I understand. Like the mythical Jesus said, “No Prophet is welcomed among his own people.”
This blog bans those who speak the truth. Protack’s only problem is he supports Castle, the rest is all good.
My guess is you guys can’t handle the truth.
Ah, the Pink Postcard crowd weighs in. Of course, they’re so insubstantial you need to measure the weight in micrograms, but still.
Christine beating Castle? We’ll be deafened by the cheering from foetus-Americans.
I had a meeting with Christine two months ago. She asked me what I thought of Palin endorsing her, something she claimed was in the works. I said essentially the same thing: Before the primary, it would be gold. After the primary, it’d be a friggin’ liability.
Is the prospect of bumping off Castle in a primary so attractive that it would blind O’Donnell to the downstream consequences? Of course it is. She is not the kind of person to allow consequences intrude on her thinking. What if you ask the same question of Palin? Assume she knows her endorsement could mean a sure O’Donnell win in the primary and a loss in the general…..does she pull the trigger?
I give O’Donnell about a 35% chance of getting the Palin endorsement.
“I had a meeting with Christine…”
Oh, is that what the kids are calling it nowadays?
Mike, I guess she didn’t accept your proposal. Tough break, particularly after losing all that weight. I feel for you, man.
Mike’s weight loss is O’Donnell’s first miracle on her path to Sainthood. Beating Castle in the primary would be miracle number 2.
