Filed in National by on August 14, 2010

Steven Slater’s now legendary escape from rude airline passengers highlights a growing trend in air travel: Unarmed Passengers.

All of these airline problems will be solved when we stop depriving airline passengers of their second amendment rights.

  1. I am the truth says:

No passengers are denied their second amendment rights, what are you talking about?

I guarantee the pain in the ass passenger was a liberal.

  2. Observer says:

I had an interesting discussion of Slater with a friend who is a teacher. He offered an interesting perspective.

The best comparison is to the video that caused such a sensation a few months back when a teacher beat the crap out of a student who had been bullying another student. As my friend pointed out, every teacher has fantasized about doing something like that to a a kid who is a bully, a class disruption, or just a pain in the butt. However, actually doing it was not only not something that made the teacher a hero, but it made that teacher a criminal who was widely condemned.

Yes, everyone has wanted to go off on annoying and rude customers/clients. It makes for a great fantasy. That said, actually doing so is wrong, and in this case probably involved several legal violations. As such, Slater is no hero — and is indeed no better than the teacher in the video cited above.

In 1971, when passenger air travel was invented, ACORN used its connections in congress to disarm air passengers. You can google it. Damn shame too – if all air passengers were armed the Luby’s shooting would not have happened.

  4. a.price says:

i wonder if the passenger was unarmed… “THIS time!!!” *dramatic music*

But i actually agree with you observer. we shouldn’t just take the law and order into our own hands and punish something that isnt really breaking the law, but may piss some people off….

Much like this Muslim community center that the Right Wing is bitching about.

  5. jason330 says:

Right. What about a little thing called the Constitution?

  6. I am the truth says:

Liberals don’t care about the Constitution except when they want to extract rights which do not exist in any way.
Now, how are these people on airplanes denied their 2nd amendment rights? Another goofy Liberal statement, maybe because Libs are afraid of guns or are too wimpy to handle them?

  7. Aoine says:

“I am the truth” – change your name to – :I am an idiot:

airplane passangers may not carry guns onto planes – now lets look at that – airplane passagners do not have the right to take up arms, as guns (and all weapons) are prohibited on planes.

Therefore – airplane passangers cannot raise a militia for their own defense – therefore, technically, while they are in flight their second ammendent rights are violated

so – taking that into account – the Wilmington Housing authority attempted to decrease gun violence in their Housing areas. They told residents that they could not have guns on Housing authority grounds – the NRA sued because these residients of the Wilmington Housing authority where deined their 2nd ammendment rights – the Wilmington Housing Authority caved in to the NRA.

so – when are the ASSHATS in the NRA going to sue the airlines??

  8. Aoine says:

Oh and just in case you are wondering, as far as being a wimpy liberal who cannot handle a gun – I own several guns – and am rated an expert marksman – I can put a bullet exactly where I want it – at quite a distance too.

but it’s my dog I would be more afraid of……

  9. I am the truth says:

Can you spell? Do you have a brain? Nope. Who rated you an expert marksman? No One. Put a bullet? Wrong jackass. You mean a round?
A round of ammunition is the bullet or bullets released when a gun is fired.

Hey dopey, there are guns on planes but not for liberals who are demented and stupid like you. I bet you live in the WHA.

  10. Aoine says:

well, well – the idiot has returned – pissed off because I put a “round” actually several, right into your argument – if that is what you would call that ridiculous blathering you posted – can you read or interpert the 2nd ammendment??

    Obviously not….

the assistant doesn’t usually type my posts for me..typing disability – oh well

as for my marksmanship rating – first the military did my rating – then law enforcement – bet that bites you

argue the facts – not the spelling – a bullet is just as effective as a round – doesn’t matter what you call it, actually the two are used interchangeably – the target will still be effected if hit – and I can hit it.

as for guns on planes – when you start training Air Marshalls – let me know

  11. jason330 says:

Nomenclature orthodoxy is the last refuge of people who have lost arguments.

  12. Phil says:

Aoine, The WHA and airplanes have nothing in common actually. That was about personal firearms in private residences in a public building. Those residents had every other constitutional protection except that one.

Now the airlines are different. It’s the same as if I came over your house or in your business with a gun and you told me I couldn’t come in with it. Since that is your residence or buisiness, I have to follow your rules. I couldn’t sue you on grounds of the 2nd amendment.

It’s the same reason that the NRA doesn’t sue to be able to bring guns onto airplanes and in courtrooms.

  13. Jason330 says:

That’s the problem. People need to be armed in court and on planes.

  14. Aoine says:

Phil – public residences that are publicly funded though – not a private residence like a homeowner owns – sooo that may not hold true.

rents are paid to a public authority – those buildings are funded thru taxpayer monies – one has to agree to certain rules to live there – like non-relatives and no drugs etc…

I as a private homeowner, can have unrealted people stay with me as long as I want and if i want drugs in my home – well I can do that as well – albiet at my own peril – but the mortgage company cannot evict me for a rules violation – im not breaking the terms of my mortgage by having drugs in my home.

so the two things ar enot really equal.

Airlines have federal regulations, and for the safety of all ( like sudden depressurizing of a cabin should the cabin structure be breached) they have outlawed guns, knives and toenail clippers too…altho breaching a cabin wall with toenail clippers might take a while

but I get your point. But the airlines also accept public monies and are accountable to stockbrokers….hmmmmmm – and federaly regulated…

point is tho really – “I am the truth” is a idiot…
