I woke up this morning, looked at the calendar, and could have sworn that we were still in 2010. But it seems that school officials in Nettleton, MS have gone back in time, all the way back to the early 1960’s.
In a memo to students the races for class officers are to be apportioned according to race. Only “white” students will be allowed to run for class president in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, while only “black” students will be allowed to run for 4 of the other 9 offices available.
Can’t really add to much to this except SHAME!!!
This is disgusting. Now the school is “reviewing” the policy. Yeah, they got caught, that’s why.
What a disgrace. I’ll be waiting to hear the rationale behind this bullshit.

But then again – in new york state they are asking children what their immigration status is in direct violation of Plyler v Doe 1982 SCOTUS decision based on the 14th ammendment

relax miscreant. Ive said it many times, but i’ll do it again. when i mention “conservatives” i am referring to people like Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, the people who thought this school election bullshit was a good idea….. you get the idea. And it is true. What this country IS, these people hate. They say they hate it. They PROUDLY hate it. One of them is having a book burning in florida soon and has hired an armed White Supremacist group to make sure no one stops them. He is willing to let people die in order to send his message of hate… and best of all, he is a white southern “man of god”.
I have less than zero respect for these people because they demonstrate time and again the world they would like to see…. a world this country has been moving up from for the past 200 years and the farther away from that place we get, the louder this movement gets.
unfortunately there are SO MANY MORE legitimate arguments from the right than the ones their representatives, leaders, and very own private propaganda machine choose to push. The caricature of the fat white xenophobic, sexist, homophobic pig is the one they consider to be a pure true Conservative. THAT is what i yell about all the time.
and for the record, have NO perceived credibility to lose. I dont claim to be anything other than a frustrated socialist who vents anonymously on blogs. so, theres that.
