Palin Endorsement of O’Donnell Nigh – O’Donnell on Tenterhooks

Filed in National by on September 8, 2010

Check this shit from the WSJ’s Neil King out:

So has conservative kingmaker Sarah Palin endorsed tea-party favorite Christine O’Donnell in her quest to knock off Rep. Mike Castle in next Tuesday’s GOP Senate primary in Delaware?

It would be huge if she has, but the O’Donnell campaign, dumbfounded, isn’t sure what has happened.

Early this morning, Palin passed along a Twitter note from a conservative talk show host that was complimentary of O’Donnell: “@ChristineOD is great, her election must [be] a major focus for us all.”

But is retweeting someone else’s endorsement an endorsement?

O’Donnell’s campaign isn’t convinced. “We would be honored and humbled by Sarah Palin’s endorsement,” said O’Donnell spokesman Matt Moran, putting a heavy emphasis on the “would be.” He went on to say that Palin “of all people knows the politics of personal destruction, when the establishment is threatened and uses slander and lies to protect” an incumbent.

Meanwhile, other wingnuts have jumped on it, trying to make the real endorsement a fait au complis.

  1. I would call it a sort of half-assed endorsement. I think the true test would be whether Palin cuts a robocall for her.

O’Donnell’s people tweeted some poll numbers that had a 44-28 Castle-O’Donnell with 28 undecided (no links to poll or internals). I’d say that’s pretty bad for Castle to be significantly under 50%.

I’m really kind of shocked that there seems to be an O’Donnell resurgence. I was sure that Castle knee-capped her, especially when Red State gave up on her.

The Hannity and Limbaugh comments will help her, I think.

John Fund of the WSJ editorial page wrote on Saturday: “The state hasn’t had a competitive GOP primary in a decade, which means voters aren’t used to turning out for primaries.”

Um…wasn’t 2000 about…oh…10 years ago? “In a decade” would then be accurate, since 2001-2010 would be a full decade.

If CoD wins, you may hear one of the biggest WTF ever and it will come from me.

Overheard on a phone conversation tonight (OK, I was speaking to one of the well known bloggers here): “The tagline of Matt Moran and Team Hoffman: ‘Winning? The hell with winning, we’ve mastered losing better than all of you! Suck it!'”

    Gaaahhh!!… it’s “tenterhooks.”

  5. Hee hee…tenderhooks

  6. Geezer says:

Those Burris-Lee numbers show why Castle’s sweating. Burris was the party’s preferred candidate, and only 13,000 people turned out to vote for him. If only 13,000 show up for Castle, O’Donnell has a chance.

Can one of the DL contributors fix that headline. I’m indisposed making fun of DelawarePolitics commenters.

  8. mediawatch says:

Nothing tender about Christine, least of all her hooks.

  9. Jason330 says:

Smitty if Christine wins it is because you and Dave sat back in fat cat city during the Bush years while the crazies took over. The same can be said for Castle who is now getting his payback for supporting Bush.

  10. Publius says:

” but the O’Donnell campaign, dumbfounded, isn’t sure what has happened.”

Doesn’t that comment kind of sum up O’Donnell in a nutshell?

You do know me, right? Maybe your memory is finally catching up to your age.

  12. Jason330 says:

Sorry to lump you in with the nuts. That picture of DB smiling with Tom Delay is burned into my memory.

Whistling past the graveyard is such a wonderful sound.

  14. Jason330 says:

Lookng at Palin news as I await the official endorsement. It seems she is against burning Korans.

Well, the other way you certainly know me is that I will hold this over your head until a beer is purchased. Now that football season is upon us…we always have the Middletown BWW. I am smelling a hot-sauce opportunity!
