The PPP Tease

Filed in National by on September 12, 2010

PPP Polls has been polling Delaware this weekend, specifically the Republican primary races. The numbers will be released sometime tonight but meanwhile they’re teasing us with some of the results.

53% of primary voters in Delaware think that Mike Castle is too liberal

PPP says the race is in single digits. O’Donnell’s challenge is to get almost all of these 53% of Delaware Republicans to vote for her over Castle. Has Castle done enough to make Republicans doubt her? While we’re busy speculating here’s two subjects we can discuss:

  • Christine O’Donnell has big signs up with her picture on it. Is it a good idea for politicians to put their picture on campaign signs? I’ve only seen this with female candidates.
  • Was it a mistake for Castle to refuse to debate O’Donnell?
  • As soon as the numbers are out I’ll post them.

    1. At least one thing commonly believed about Christine O’Donnell is not true:

O’Donnell, who has never been married, has said she experienced a religious conversion in college, after a period of drinking and casual sex, that led her to become part of the chastity movement and devote her own life to abstinence.

“Not only because I think it’s right,” O’Donnell said in 2004, explaining her decision to remain chaste. “I know what it’s like to live a life without principle.”

    2. dv says:

      ruined like they ruined conservative?

    3. Jason330 says:

If casual sex caused her religious conversion, she wasn’t doing something right.

    4. anonone says:

PPP called our house. My wife answered. Pressed “1” that she approved of Obama. Grrrrrr…

Anyway, the most interesting question was whether of not Castle was fit for public office followed by the same question about Christine “life without principle” O’Donnell

    5. anon says:

That sobbing you hear in the distance is Mike “Maidenhead” Matthews breaking down and crying.

    6. Jason330 says:

No and hell no. – for those two last two questions.

    7. anonone says:

That is how I would have answered, but she answered “yes” and “no.”

I gotta start picking up the phone more.

    8. Hugh Akston says:

The NJ writes about the Tea Party and calls it “populist.” I guess populist is another word ruined by conservatives

Just like the Socialist in the 1930’s stole the word Liberal.

Now Liberals of the past (Jefferson, Madison, Friedrich Hayek, Frédéric Bastiat) are now referred to as Classical Liberals.

    9. Jason330 says:

Breaking: It is being reported that when PPP called my neighbor, Evan Quitich (SP?) ran up to him belligerently and held his baseball cap up to the phone.

    10. jason330 says:

Yes. 53%. Only 47% of Alaska GOP primary voters thought Murkowski was too liberal. Oh Dear!

    11. PPP already showed that Alaska and Delaware have a similar number of Republicans who call themselves “moderate.” Joe Miller is just as nutty as Christine O’Donnell without the financial incompetence baggage.

    12. What I’m interested in seeing: Is Castle under 50% How many undecideds are in play?

    13. anon says:

So is everyone just sitting around their computers tonight hitting “refresh” on the PPP website?

    14. jason330 says:

      nothing yet eh?

    15. Hahahaha yes. I just tweeted something to that effect.

    16. jason330 says:

While we wait, let’s play – “What happens if Christine O’Donnell beats Castle?” I think the first thing that happens is that the DE GOP closes ranks and declares Chris Coons the worst human being since Hitler.

    17. Anon says:

No doubt Tom Ross is drafting the press release now about unifying to defeat the evil tax raiser who will be a rubber stamp for Obama….

    18. jason330 says:

No doubt. As impossible as it seems, even Castle will be on team Christine. Anybody who could campaign for Sarah Palin to be the Vice President of the United States, could campaign for O’Donnell.

    19. anon says:

The Delaware GOP will shut down its statewide campaign HQ, because that’ll mean that Rollins lost, too.

Mike Castle will consider running as a write-in candidate, but he’ll bow out and endorse Chris Coons, alongside their good buddy Tom Carper.

The News Journal unleashes a full barrage against O’Donnell with both barrels, with editorial cartoons by Jack Jurden portraying her as Christine O’Possum. Ron Williams will write 10 columns in a row kissing Castle’s butt and thanking him for his devoted service.

Coons will start hiring his Senate staff and picking out his furniture on Sept. 15.

      Ceila Cohen’s retinas will fuse.

And in amazement at actually winning something, Christine will fall off the abstinence wagon and invite Matthews over for a tumble in the bushes.

    20. jason330 says:

“Jack Jurden portraying her as Christine O’Possum.” Who could tell, unless Jurden wrote “Possum” across her rear end?

    21. MJ says:

The DE GOP will do what the CO GOP did with their gubernatorial candidate and disown O’Whackamole. This will also result in the Dems keeping control of Leg Hall and controlling redistricting next year. It also might be enough to swing some county races to the Dems.

    22. jason330 says:

Moderate and conservative Republicans have one big thing in common; nothing is more important to them than beating Democrats. Just look houw they all got behind George Bush when it was clear that he was an incompetent, evil moron.

    23. I can’t imagine GOP unity if O’Donnell wins. They GOP has spent a lot of time attacking her. They called her “delusional.” I think an O’Donnell win causes a big schism.

    24. jason330 says:

      1) Beat moderate Republicans in primaries
      2) ??????
      3) Beat Democrats in the General.

    25. Conservative Republicans have actually given up on beating Democrats.

    26. jason330 says:

Maybe. it looks like the purge is on: “Republican voters disapprove of Olympia Snowe and think her rightful place is in the Democratic Party.”

    27. pandora says:

I’m not ruling out the scenario where the Dems lose seats in Nov. and then gain seats after all the “moderate” Repubs switch parties. 😉
