Still grappling with his shocking primary defeat, Rep. Michael N. Castle of Delaware said Thursday that he will not endorse Republican Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell because he could not tolerate some of the “personal smears” he faced during the campaign.
I sat in front of a vaguely familiar right wing columnist from New York (I don’t know her name, but if I go picture searching on the New York Post, I bet I will find her). She was saying to a gentleman next to her that she really hates that Castle has not endorsed Christine. I turned around and said “O’Donnell deserves nothing from Castle. You realize that her campaign spread smears that he was gay.” And she said, with out a look of humor or irony “Well, I heard on good authority that he was.” I became enraged internally, but managed to say “And you see nothing wrong with that even being an issue. That is why the right wing in this country is pure evil.”
Castle, of course, should never endorse O’Donnell. Indeed, if they ever are at the same event, he should shun her. O’Donnell is your typical evil right wing Fox News merchant of lies, from saying that Bill Clinton murdered Vince Foster to saying that Castle is gay. Such scum is never worthy of an endorsement.
And Castle is still too much of a loyal Republican to endorse Coons, and I can respect that.
More from the Washington Post article:
“There are a lot of personal feelings in all this,” Castle said in an interview off the House floor, citing “some of the personal smears” in the bitterly fought campaign. “At this point, I have no intention of endorsing.” He ruled out supporting the Democratic nominee, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons, suggesting that he will remain neutral in the Senate race. [..]
[O’Donnell] has since indicated that she would take Castle’s endorsement, but the two have not spoken. Castle said that his campaign had two phone numbers for her – one a cellphone, the other a home phone – and that both were out of service Tuesday and Wednesday. He said that on Thursday morning, he called the general campaign phone number and left a message saying he was trying to reach O’Donnell.
Now that is comedy. The dipshit Republican nominee for Senate does not have a telephone. Now we knew O’Donnell wants to take Delaware back to the 50’s, but who knew it was the 1850’s she was talking about.
