An Interesting Inconsistency.

Filed in National by on September 18, 2010

Back on April 2, 2010, Christine O’Donnell canceled her appearance at a 9/12 Patriot’s meeting in Sussex County.

Update: Christine O’Donnell did not make her scheduled appearance at the 9-12 Delaware Patriots Meeting in Sussex. A member of her campaign staff spoke in her stead and mentioned that she went down to Georgia to be with her sister who is going through a life threatening pregnancy. She is likely to also miss the Monday appearance in New Castle, but is expected to be at the Wednesday appearance in Kent County.

But at the JCC Candidate’s form Thursday night, she said this:

“I would support abortion in cases of life, not health, but the life of the mother. That is one situation that my family personally experienced with my sister a couple years ago. But that’s a family decision where it’s one life or the other,” O’Donnell said.

Now, unless O’Donnell has had two sisters with life threatening pregnancies, or one sister with two life threatening pregnancies, it appears she has lied either to the teabaggers back in April about her cancellation, or she lied to the voters present at the JCC. Or, perhaps, there never was a sister with a life threatening pregnancy? Or, once again, she misspoke. But I tend not to give the benefit of the doubt to grifters like O’Donnell.

  1. Great catch, DD!

We know she has at least one sister. Do we know if she has others? It shouldn’t be difficult to find out if she has a sister who is pregnant or recently pregnant.

  2. pandora says:

Actually, it seems very difficult to find out anything about O’Donnell. Do we even know where she lives?

  3. pandora says:

Oops! Sorry, DD. Great catch! Not that it will matter to her “I don’t care” supporters.

  4. anon says:

This is low, even for a snake like O’Donnell.

  5. Nosy says:

If the birth was in April ’10 then the sister became pregnant in early ’09 so while it may not have been a “couple of years ago” it may seem that way since in a few months it will be a couple (2) years ago. It is possible that the family knew very early on in the pregnancy that it would be a difficult one – even life threatening. While I’m not a “I don’t care” supporter – I still find this to be a non-issue. There are other things you can legitimately bash her on. This is just stupid.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

True enough, Nosy. That may explain it. I just found it interesting.

  7. heragain says:

Well, maybe if we can get her some family members with AIDS, etc. she’ll broaden her views.

If I ever saw policy positions predicated mainly on “The sun rises and sets on me” this is it.

  8. anon says:

The sister would have gotten pregnant a year ago, a pregnancy lasts 9 months. If she delivered in April, which isn’t clear by that quote, that would put conception in July ’09 which was a year ago, not “(2) years ago” by any stretch.

Not that it matters, O’Donnell can say just about anything and her followers will rush to defend her.

  9. heragain says:

She didn’t ‘give birth’ if she was an example of abortion exception. More likely one sister has fertility problems, including one life threatening pregnancy that occurred a couple of years ago and was terminated (like ectopic pregnancy) and one emergency of some sort in April.

  10. anonone says:

Her one sister is an outspoken lesbian, and it sounds like Christine is saying she had an abortion. I wonder if her sister appreciates having her private health issues revealed in a public debate?

  11. anon says:

Or maybe it’s all just bullshit. My guess is bullshit like virtually every other thing O’Donnell says.

  12. I think what we need to find out:

Does O’Donnell have more than one sister?
Has this sister had an abortion because of a health threat?
Has this sister had more than one pregnancy with a health threat? (this is possible, especially if the sister has an underlying health issue)

  13. heragain says:

Her lesbian sister lives in LA. The sister with the health problem in April in Georgia. I’d count that as more than one sister.

Highly unlikely that a settled adult with a problem pregnancy would say “Gee, gotta get further away from UCLA medical center… like Georgia.”

  14. anonone says:

    Wickipedia:

“O’Donnell, who is of Irish-Italian descent (from her father and mother, respectively), grew up in Moorestown, New Jersey, as the second youngest of six children.”

  15. Ordinary Joe says:

Apparently you only give the benefit of the doubt to left-wing grifters like Obama and the Clintons.

  16. anon says:

I’m sure O’Donnell will have some tragic soap opera like story to explain everything.

And Ordinary Joe, don’t you O’Donnell lovers ever get tired of ignoring her lies and failures by pointing at other people? Aren’t you moral values voters supposed to actually have values?

  17. BeeEss says:

She is trying to pull a Palin. She isn’t married, so she can’t fake a pregnancy. This is the next best thing. Guarantee it.

  18. I’m all about keeping the foe down, I’m not ashamed to carry brass knuckles but I have to ask: is this the route you really want to take?
Yeah, she may try to legislate away a woman’s right over her own body but you’ll never get that evidence, you’ll never sink so low. If she had to endure such a traumatic event why force it upon her again. There are books one can open but pages that must not be turned. When we command compassion but show none, we are they.
The turn around argument(truth/facts) doesn’t compute with the right. Take Clinton and Newt, for example. Same faults. Two men enter, one man left with a blue dress to haunt him. I still have Linda Tripp to remind me that no female can be trusted.
Please don’t do the speculative pregnancy/termination thing. We are not they.
