Our winner today is a contributor at that den of wingnuts known as Delaware Politics, or what I like to call, the cuckoo’s nest. And it seems that one of them has flown over it.
Angel Clark, who blogs as Sussex County Angel, put up a post yesterday advocating an economic boycott of any business that has a Pete Schwartzkopf sign on its property. She specifically singled out Atlantic Liquors on Route 1 and Old Landing Road, which has a huge Pete sign on it’s property and also advertises on WGOP. And she faults them because Pete supported HB 212 which would have raised liquor taxes. And how much would taxes have gone up? Just a few pennies! And this 2 cents per 12 ounce can of beer or 15 cents on a 750 ml bottle of Absolut probably wouldn’t have been noticed.
What Angel doesn’t see is that there are some people and businesses that might not mind paying more taxes. If the money is going to go to education and police and fire protection, hell, I bet a lot of people would pay a few more cents.
But Angel has advocated that people vote with their pocketbook if their favorite store has a campaign sign for a candidate one might not approve of. Hmmm. Grotto Pizza had Michelle Rollins’ signs out front of most of their restaurants, including the Grotto Grand Slam on Route 1. Well, I guess I won’t eat Grotto’s, but it’s not because of that, I just don’t like their pizza. And I guess I shouldn’t shop at Home Depot because they have Urkel’s sign out front. Oh wait, Pete has a sign there, too. Now I don’t know what to do.
Angel, advocating a boycott of a business because you don’t like the fact that the owners like Pete (because, unlike your sock-puppet candidate, Pete doesn’t see political labels when it comes to helping residents) is bad business and wreckless. It also earns you today’s Asshat of the Day Award.
BTW, Angel, the only ones who feel that Pete “has overstepped his bounds in many aspects of the legislature” can be counted on 2 hands – you, St. Bodie Girl, and the chicken s**ts behind the anonymous attack website.
