Christine O’Donnell Claims She Hasn’t Done Negative Ads

Filed in National by on October 16, 2010

You have to admire the alternate reality of Christine O’Donnell. In her reality, she’s a valiant heroine fighting the forces of evil for goodness and purity. Everything she does is right and anyone who doesn’t agree is wrong. Check out this Dialogue Delaware story on the Rotary Club debate between O’Donnell and Coons:

“What qualities do you most respect and admire in your opponent?” Terrell asked, gathering laughter in the Hotel du Pont’s Gold Ballroom.

Coons said he respects O’Donnell’s passion for the conservative causes she supports.

“My opponent Christine O’Donnell is someone who has shown remarkable persistence,” Coons said as he set up a jab. “She’s run for the United States Senate three times in the last five years.”

ZING!

Moderator Richard Stat turned to O’Donnell and said “Chris has ceded his time to you to expand upon his good qualities,” generating more laughter.

“I do respect my opponent and his ability to debate and his ability to thoughtfully answer a question,” O’Donnell said. “But I do want to point out that we haven’t yet taken out a negative ad…”

O’Donnell’s claim that she hasn’t gone negative “yet” caught raised some eyebrows in the ballroom given her recent mail fliers, radio and television advertisements attacking Coons for raising taxes.

Perhaps she hasn’t watched the “Taxman” ad yet.

I see what you just did. Pointing out the “I haven’t taken out a negative ad” lie amounts attack on Christine. Why do you hate America?

  2. anon says:

Christine actually made a funny joke… after Coons gave his response to “what are her good qualities,” she responded something like “You haven’t used up your two minutes yet.”

… or did Coons say that first? I have to review, I can’t remember.

Christine honey. Try to increase your percentage of “I” statements without losing track of your personal boundaries. Like this “I’m you” business. It’s creepy, and untrue. But we’d be interested in specifics that followed “If elected I would try to pass legislation… banning birth control, eliminating the minimum wage, stuff like that.”

Imagine an empty suit like coons is the better choice, man Delaware is messed up.

  5. PSB says:

hey DL moderators, can you do the DL readers a service and whenever a post comes from WTFC have the screen flash (100% crap–move on–nothing happening here)?

Pointing out that Coons has raised taxes isn’t going negative, it’s the truth.

Going negative is distorting someone record or guilt by association. I have seen nothing by her yet that can be called “negative ads”.

  7. Joe Cass says:

Susan, please look beyond the ads and the feel good sensation of being part of something that is outside of everything. We went through that in high school. It makes even less sense now.
Take the tax on 911 calls for example. LIE. There is already a tax on landline telephones designated for the 911 call center. Is that a bad thing, Susan? Don’t you want to be saved by the police from the bad guys, Susan? Chris Coons put forth a proposal to tax cellphone users for 911 calls. Many people don’t have landlines, Susan, many people only use cellular phones so they are not paying their share of the cost of the 911 call center. Now if you only want police and fire to respond to calls from landlines I’m with you against the tax. I would hate to bear the guilt that a child or a mother or anybody wasn’t rescued because “we just don’t like taxes”. Here’s a link, Susan:

I draw on all powers in the universe that you never have need of emergency services. Sincerely Susan.

  8. Susan says:

    Joe, Joe, Joe

Did Coons propose reducing the taxes on the landlines to offset his new tax on cell phones to “share” the cost??
Hardly, Coons sought a new tax on cell phones and an INCREASE in the tax on land lines. What O’Donnell hasn’t touched on is the plethora of new taxes Coons and NCC Council asked permission from the General Assembly.

If the General Assembly hadn’t said no, Coons would have made NO cuts, and raised taxes through the roof. Now picture Coons in Washington with no such restraints. Just the Saudi’s and Chinese to borrow from.

  9. cassandra_m says:

So you don’t actually live in NCCO, right, Susan?

Even though the facts don’t matter to you, all three Delaware counties supported the 911 fee on cell phones. Why? Because each of these three counties have to pay for the increased 911 activity from cell phones. You pay a fee for 911 service on your landline to cover these costs, why shouldn’t you on your cell phone?

But then you do live in unicorn land where you can have all of the government you can eat for free. If you lived in NCCo you would know that there were pretty major cuts to salaries, staff, programs and subsidies. And he balanced the county’s budget. Your gal Christine can’t balance her household budget. So go back to where ever you come from where you can make up your bullshit freely.

  10. heragain says:

Cassandra, what gets me about these folks is that they have NO idea how small Delaware is. People from big states don’t know what it’s like to see all your politicians at their kids soccer games, and the check-out line in the grocery. So they think, if we don’t like Christine O’Donnell, or we do like Chris Coons, it must be because we spend countless hours being lied to by MSNBC. They don’t understand that we actually KNOW these people.

I had a friend had the darndest time, earlier in the election cycle, because she didn’t know where COD went to high school. Her first call was always to someone she knew who’d gone to school with a candidate, to get a firsthand impression.

It is still not a bad idea to try and track down some classmates from Moorestown High School class of 1987. Maybe someone can find the guy who took her to the blood alter on the first date?

  12. Jason,

In last week’s paper, someone from her high school said he didn’t know anyone who was into witchcraft.
