You have to admire the alternate reality of Christine O’Donnell. In her reality, she’s a valiant heroine fighting the forces of evil for goodness and purity. Everything she does is right and anyone who doesn’t agree is wrong. Check out this Dialogue Delaware story on the Rotary Club debate between O’Donnell and Coons:
“What qualities do you most respect and admire in your opponent?” Terrell asked, gathering laughter in the Hotel du Pont’s Gold Ballroom.
Coons said he respects O’Donnell’s passion for the conservative causes she supports.
“My opponent Christine O’Donnell is someone who has shown remarkable persistence,” Coons said as he set up a jab. “She’s run for the United States Senate three times in the last five years.”
ZING!
Moderator Richard Stat turned to O’Donnell and said “Chris has ceded his time to you to expand upon his good qualities,” generating more laughter.
“I do respect my opponent and his ability to debate and his ability to thoughtfully answer a question,” O’Donnell said. “But I do want to point out that we haven’t yet taken out a negative ad…”
O’Donnell’s claim that she hasn’t gone negative “yet” caught raised some eyebrows in the ballroom given her recent mail fliers, radio and television advertisements attacking Coons for raising taxes.
Perhaps she hasn’t watched the “Taxman” ad yet.
