In NCC Special, Registration is Destiny
Tobin looks at the numbers for the upcoming special election for President of New Castle County Council and finds it as close to a stone cold lock for the Democratic candidate as you can get in politics.
But wait. Democrats have been know to be lazy in NCC specials. maybe….. Uh no.
I really think turnout is destiny. Plus, Kovach is their nominee. I’m sure the NCCo GOP is looking for their next Castle.
If you go by registration numbers alone, no Republican could ever become Mayor of New York.
This is another reason the Dems should settle on Sheldon — the labor GOTV effort will be necessary to overcome voter fatigue.
Sheldon vs. Kovach might be competitive–especially if Sheldon and Clark are tied together as pro-development regardless of the consequences.
Phil Cloutier once won this office as an R. A low turnout special election gives the R’s the best chance to win it back one more time.
The DEMs will be chosing between Dunn and Sheldon so if they want to counter the obvious conflicts in a Clark – Sheldon pairing they need to vote Dunn in as nominee. Dunn took 42% of the vote in a countywide primary against Clark in 2008 with a very short candidacy.

:Labor will GTVO no matter who the DEMs pick for their nominee….interestingly though, who will be more of a labor candidate if the GOP picks Terry Spence in a Spence – Sheldon race?
Have you seen Clark’s transition team? It is development industry central.

It’s disgusting how the Dems have the Labor vote in their pocket. They simply take the union members for granted, just like they take minorities for granted.
Never mind that the Dems will sell out either or both if it helps them politically.
No one yet has anything to say about the merits of these two candidates, other than the ‘shrug+inference’ system?

heragain – I’ll weigh in. I know both Bill Dunn and Tom Kovach. I find both of them to be smart and capable and I could easily see myself voting for either of them.
I have spoken to Tim Sheldon exactly once, so I can’t really comment fairly on him yet.
