Final Shameless Self-Promotion Post

Filed in National by on December 3, 2010

My alter-alter ego, Symphony Steve, produces his final concert for the Arden Concert Gild, this Saturday night, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m. at the Arden Gild Hall. To celebrate both this and my wife’s birthday milestone, we’re turning it into an audience appreciation night for those fortunate enough to attend. Real prizes and surprises, plus some great American roots music. Our performers tomorrow:

JOY KILLS SORROW: Haunting, ethereal songs, heavenly instrumentation, and gorgeous vocals. Featuring the National Flat-Picking Guitar Player, the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Winner, and the first and only mandolinist to get a full scholarship from Berklee School of Music. And they’re all incredibly young. I flat out love this band:

EILEN JEWELL BAND: Eilen was voted the National Singer/Songwriter of the Year by the Boston Phoenix. Her road-tested high octane band makes this one of the finest American roots bands you’ll see anywhere:

All this, plus Symphony Steve (aka El Somnambulo) as you’ve never seen him before and will never see him again! Don’t worry, he’s not gonna pull a ‘Jim Morrison’ on ya.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and are available at (302) 475-3126 or at the door.

I’d love to see members of the Delaware Liberal community at the Gild Hall tomorrow night! You will…not…regret…it.

    I’ve had a chance to listen to both bands, thanks to the morning Roots program on WVUD. It looks like you have put together a great show. I highly recommend this one.

    Not gonna pull a Jim Morrison? Does that mean no peeing on the folks in the first row?

    Seriously, Where is Arden Gild Hall?

  3. another-anon says:

    @the cajun–

    Pulling a Jim Morrison would mean dying from alcoholism at age 29. A neat trick! Sure beats blowing one’s head off with a shotgun a la Cobain.

  4. Thanks, Tommy. Mark Taylor, Michele McCann and Sheila & Jerry Grant have been long-time supporters. I think all four may be here tonight. I’ve even co-produced a show at the Hall with Mark. I know their signal is not the best, but the music and the encyclopedic knowledge of the DJ’s at WVUD warrant a much wider listenership.

    Cajun–you sorta got the idea. Soon-to-be-former Gov. Charlie Crist in Florida is still trying to get that lewdness conviction dropped. If you can get to I-95, you can get to the Gild Hall. Just take I-95 to Exit 10 (Harvey Road). Turn left on Harvey, proceed to third light (less than a mile), turn left onto Orleans, bear left at the fork about a half a block in, and you’ll see the mighty Gild Hall loom up on your left. Free parking right across the street.

    One point: We only do cash or check at the box office (hey, we’re Arden…), but we’ll have room for any and all who want to come.

    @another-anon: No need for a history note. I was around back then – saw the Doors twice – and Morrison’s death was anything but a “neat trick.”

    @El Somnambulo: Thanks for the info, though too late to be of help. I live at the beach in RB, miles away from I95. And I still don’t know where the Hall is. Like Geographically. Sorry I missed the event. Hope it was a great time.
