Glenn Beck read aloud emails between himself and Sarah Palin from this weekend on his radio show today. He said:
“But please look into protection for your family. An attempt on you could bring the republic down.”
Sarah Palin should have protection for herself and her family if she feels threatened. If there are any threats against her, she should be reporting them immediately to the proper authorities so they can be investigated. And any attempt on her would be horrible. But, if I recall correctly, the Republic was doing just fine before John McCain recklessly decided to foist Mrs. Palin upon the Republic. Further, if anything has endangered the Republic over the last two years, it has been Sarah Palin herself and her violent rhetoric and patently false claims, such as that “Death Panels” gem of truthiness. Indeed, Alaska did not fall to the Russians when Sarah Palin quit her job as Governor. I imagine the United States will similarly do just fine should Palin decide to retire from public life, again. Just as the Republic carried on after the retirement of Bush, and Reagan, and Clinton. When President Obama retires after his term(s) are up, the Republic will carry on too.
The very idea that Sarah Palin is necessary to the survival of the Republic, and the suggestion that it could fall if an attempt is made on her life, is precisely the type of cult of personality that Beck and Palin say Obama employs.
