The Tea Party In Delaware And Arizona Have A Lot In Common

Filed in Delaware, National by on January 12, 2011

In the words of Mistermix, What The Hell Is Happening In Arizona?

A nasty battle between factions of Legislative District 20 Republicans and fears that it could turn violent in the wake of what happened in Tucson on Saturday prompted District Chairman Anthony Miller and several others to resign.

Miller, a 43-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and former campaign worker for U.S. Sen. John McCain, was re-elected to a second one-year term last month. He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family’s safety.

In an e-mail sent a few hours after Saturday’s massacre in Tucson that killed six and injured 13, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Miller told state Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen he was quitting: “Today my wife of 20 yrs ask (sic) me do I think that my PCs (Precinct Committee members) will shoot at our home? So with this being said I am stepping down from LD20GOP Chairman…I will make a full statement on Monday.”

Something is very wrong.  People don’t walk away from leadership positions on a whim.  Apparently some Republicans are drawing connections between Saturday’s shooting and the violent rhetoric.

In the meantime, a series of accusatory e-mails was exchanged among party members. Some blasted Miller’s support of McCain, called him a “McCainiac with a penchant for violating the rules” and a “McCain hack.”

Hmm… that sounds familiar.  The very same thing is playing out in downstate Delaware.  And you can add another email from Sussex to the pile.

WHEREAS, The Chairman’s position is one of an executive, for the express purpose of directing meetings at the pleasure of the Executive Committee; however, Chairman Ron Sams uses the power of the position to further his own personal agenda. The Chairman runs the meetings as though the Executive Committee is there at his pleasure, as if his position was one of a tyrant or sovereign king by:

Tyrant?  Sovereign king?  Go read the whole thing.  It ends by calling for Ron Sams resignation.   Frankly, given the bad behavior at this month’s meeting combined with the over-the-top, non-professional wording of this email, I’d consider resigning.  And that probably makes me a coward, but when a commenter at Delaware Politics starts referring to next month’s GOP meeting as the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre…  Yep, I’m outta there.  Obviously, this isn’t just an Arizona problem.

The Hudson family is apparently “all in” for Ayotte, so there is a decent probability that will be actual shootings at the next SC GOP meetings if things don’t break their way. This is a family that has been call g for armed conflict since day one of the Obama administration.

Hudson’s email is a poorly written piece of emotional nonsense which basically boils down to: My fee fees are hurt. Ayotte is a guy who obviously doesn’t know how to behave in public.

And this – See you at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. We are taking over. (from the link above) – should be enough to keep any sane person away from the February meeting.

I finally went to DP and read some of their wisdom. The best of idiotic statements was some idiot saying that COD should take over the DE Rep Chair.

How stupid can you be? She has no interest in doing anything except getting a job in media or grifting election donations. And the morons in Sussex can’t figure this out?

It is real simple. She runs for an office she has no chance of winning, and the disappears until the next election.

If she really had any interest in politics she would have run for a State assembly seat, which she would have won, and then built up to a federal office. ( this would have worked by now ).

I hope whoever has this view of COD is the next Rep Chair. It will ensure that DE never elects any Rep to a federal office.

  4. And to think Wile E. Ayotte wants to be party chair!!!!

The behavior in Sussex is a disgrace. However, if I were Sams, I’d walk too. Every rational, normal person needs to walk.

Ron, as long as you are there, you *own* the defeats these losers bring on. Turn the keys over to them. Let them drive. They will have nobody to blame for what happens but themselves. And in case nobody noticed… there is no longer anything left worth fighting about in the GOP, unless your life’s dream is to get less than 40% of the vote in an election or win and be banished to the purgatory of the Leg. Hall basement.

@ Blog Warrior – there is nothng Wile (wiley) in Idiot Ayotte

However – I like your point – Sams and Ross should just turn over the keys and let them drive………….

Right into a bigger hole than they are already in – it would indeed secure the Dems in power in Deaware for my lifetime

Sadly, I believe in checks and balances and just because the Right has differing views does not mean all their ideas are bad – that said – those Sussex County Conservative Caucus wackos that believe in totalitarianism and “my way or the highway” are just dangerous and good luck to the GOP in excising them from the co-opting the party.

I think it’s actually a bad thing for us if they get rid of Ron. He’s been their fearless leader for what 8 years or so? Every year the results are worse and worse for them. Look at what we accomplished in Delaware compared to oh I don’t know maybe these guys http://www.ncsl.org/tabid/21253/default.aspx

HEY ALL – if you want a good chuckle – check out on the the Sussex COunty conservative Caucus’ blogspot (read nutjobs) – ROTFLMAO

have fun as she equates her grand-daughter’s grades with “liberal” jargon

School records are private personal records and should not be used in this manner – is there no bar too low??

    Dirty Girl,
Do not equate checks and balances, which is built into the structure of the government, with trying to compromise with people who do not even believe in our government. Let alone have any respect for people and have no room for compromise themselves.

I am a lunatic, I realize that, and I firmly believe in meeting wingnuts on their level. Especially when they personally attacked me.
