Democratic politicians sure seem relieved not to be talking about tax increases for the rich anymore. Thank goodness that unpleasantness is behind us.
Starting with SOTU, Democratic messaging is now well organized and focused on jobs, innovation, etc. Tax increases are not in the script. Coons is right on message the day after SOTU.
“Senator Coons – Will your vote to give $700 billion in tax cuts to the wealthiest 2% have any impact on the Administration’s ability to follow through on its investment proposals? “
If there are any New Deal Democrats who are squarely on the side of the working stiffs left, I don’t know of them. Although I guess there are vestiges left in the labor movement, but there again – they seem to have bought into the notion that further enriching rich people is good for the economy.
